Three angle valve job complete (both intake and exhaust) for the Ferrea comp valves.

ARP head studs installed after running a tap to clean the threads in the block. They were toqued to 90 ft.lb.
The 1.3mm ACL race head gasket was used as the pistons protruded .35mm above deck, resulting in .95mm (.037") quench.

Brian Crower valve springs with titanium retainers installed

3g lifters, rollers, GSC cams and gears installed.

Evo 8 squirters installed, these completely clear the wiseco wrist pin bosses without modification.
Image

Oil screen modified to work with the ARP main studs.

Bottom end complete and ready for the sump to be installed.
Image

Decided to use an Aus spec manifold as it eliminates two gaskets over the Jap version. Also cleaned it up for a better appearance.
Image

EGR completely eliminated, this way it clears up clutter in the bay and doesn't arise suspicion from the authorities.

Sump modified to eliminate the use of the stupid return pipe gasket.

Removed the FP advertisement boss from the manifold for a stock appearing race manifold.

Then a coat of high temp paint to protect from rust.

Been busy then Koray, but why did you remove the vacc port from the manifold?

How will you now run the gearbox over drive?.....Tee piece the brake master hose?

Looks great!

Notice the grub screw missing from the end of the vac gallery?

A nipple will be installed here as it makes for a cleaner look.

Great pics. I like what you did getting rid of the fp from the manifold. Also what product did you use to block the egr ports on the intake manifold?

Considering the work your getting done on this engine i guess you are all healed up now from your bike accident?

Thanks bud and Andrew is correct, the manifold was TIG welded using 3/32 4043 filler @ 90-110 Amps

I'm doing well, upper body is all healed up and my limp is mostly gone, foot still hurts though. Thanks for asking.

Yeah makes sense. Think i've been having too many late nights. For some reason i thought you had used some sort of hardening sealant. Nice work cleaning up the weld.

It's good to hear your nearly back to normal physically. Makes me think of that 3D isle of man TT doco where the dude crashes at 270km/h and while he's in hospital with a smashed spine he's preparing for next year. You ever getting on a bike again?

Please keep posting the pics of your build!

Thanks man... and yea... I will ride again, not for a while though! Need to focus on my career ATM.

As can be seen, the Kando exhaust housing could do with some work to better boost control.

Some may have noticed I was trying to make do with the wrong waterpump. I got close but gave up as I did not want to hack the timing cover.

Hyundai timing covers have two rings around where the balancer sits. These foul the fluidampr and therefore need to be removed. ( I am aware of the additional "the" in the pic, but cbf fixing it!)

Standard bots are plenty long enough..... so it seems I have the revised balancer.

Removed 220g off the rotating mass by replacing the power steering pulley with under 1g worth of washers.

Nice one Koray..........how come your balance has the info sticker on the back when mine is on the front?

Did you also use the Hyundai mounting plates as some of the bolt holes don't line up........just checked my spare hyundai timing over and it doesn't have the 2 ribs!.........Which model did you get the cover off of?

Love the manifolds.........look chunky and naked!

Cheers guys,

Umm... not sure about the balancer, perhaps we have different revisions.

As for the timing cover, it is a 97 sonata cover, it fit with the standard single layer Rs mounting plates.

More pics soon!

The Kando exhaust housing comes with a 34mm wastegate flap but has provisions for up to 37mm. Since the larger turbo will not need to flow as much exhaust gas around the turbine wheel, the 34mm flap should be sufficient for this build.
Image
Entrance has been contoured to allow a less abrupt flow out the gate.
Image
Gate ported to 30mm
Image
Dodgy leak test passed with 4mm (diameter) to seal.
Image
New genuine turbo to manifold hardware
Image
Installed and awaiting water pipe mod to clear compressor housing.

Love how clean this engine is. No corners skipped. :)

Looking at how modified this engine is and how much money you spent, i don't understand why your bypassing the oil cooler system. Its actually beneficial to use. kinda like having 400HP with no intercooler.
