Just some more pre-assembly pics..........the cross-over pipe did not fit properly when I received the car.........the turbo end was nearly exposed and didn't sit flush in the compressor housing..........turns out the locating dowel on the turbo was missing causing alignment problems........all fixed now.

Swaybar with all rust removed and repainted.......includes all new nolathane bushes.

Yet another shifter refurbished:

Alot of guys on here always blame the insulator for the "up/down" movement........this is not the case......the actual linkage wears in the insulator itself to cause this.......this pic shows a 2.5mm washer to take up the "slack".

Image

Firewall started............so much rust due to leaking brake fluid!

JDFirefly really needs one.......some one cut the actuator arm off causing it to fully retract...........not good.

How the hell do you get the parts so clean bitza? Especially the front timing cover. There's not a scratch of dirt on it and i know how much of a bastard they are to get all the dirt out of all the corners. Impressive stuff mate, nearly looks like it's been sandblasted.

Read a fair bit about what's been happening on this forum last night so i've got to say please keep this thread going. It's one of the main reasons i visit, along with your 2.3 thread which hasn't had much added to it in recent times.

Have you done anything lately with your 2.3? Have you had a chance to drive it much?

Keep the posts coming bitza. You've helped me out a lot over the years and i'm always interested in the progress your making.

I get my parts clean using de-greaser and a toothbrush. :)

As for the timing cover it was rubbed back with 1200 paper until flat in colour, flexi-prime added (for the paint to stick) then covered in 3 coats of satin black.......vola.......near new timing cover.

The 2.3 is just sitting idle......there is no more to do on it rather than more dyno time........I am concentrating my time on the AC at the moment.

I thank you for praise........I'm always hear to help others and share my information. :)

I'm considering converting to manual steering.

How was it to drive, did it feel like every other car without power steering? Can it be compared to your starlet?

Koray.......I actually didn't get to drive it........but the steering was quite light when we pushed it into the garage. :)

My Starlet actually has power steering, so it can't be compared.

Andrew, does the steering column differ from the PS version?

I'm considering the conversion but 225's may be an issue. I guess I'll have to try it out or go electric.

Ps, I use a toothbrush for cleaning also, works a treat!!

It's a straight swap from manual to power steer (or vise versa) the steering columns are the same.

Awesome, thanks for that!

Would you consider selling the rack?
