Have some great news guys i got my VR4 engine yesterday afternoon, got an Autronic ECU with it with loom to suit the engine, the were from the same car a Cordia from melbourne, it also came with a practically new clutch which you could see it had plenty of meat on it, also came with passenger side engine mount so going in wont be too hard.

Well the seller said it had:- HKS 272 cams, HKS Cam gears, 2618 Aria Forged Pistons, Scat Rods, Scat Balanced Crank, HKS Valve Springs, Arp Stud Kit, Honed Intake, Balanced Flywheel, New Bearings...

It got dropped off at my mates machine shop to check and see if it really has what he says it did and if it needs a freshen up, hopefully not so it can be in sooner than later.

Your a classic Sol, for now the 16g will do just to get it on the road, if i upgrade it will probably be a 20g or a t3/t4 setup...

Well i have a little bit of feed back from the workshop, the bottom end looks good but they found one of the oil squirters in the sump, he advised its nothing big to fix, he is pulling the head off to check the rings and check the head for flowing... My fingers are XXX big time that there is nothing wrong then it will be in the car in no time...

I have finally found some vht gold so i can spray my vr4 calipers before they go on the front end conversion... If anyone has some vr4 or magna hubs??? Im in need to finish the front brake setup...

Will be sending my front and rear bar to get some fibre glass attention... The side skirts are ready to go on but once they are all ready and painted they will all go on along with the original scoop too...

You can fix them yourself Andrew..........it's quite easy.........grind any breaks or shatter cracks right through the glass.........ALWAYS glass on the rear of the bar, and build up the crack where needed.......once cured, apply a coat of bog, sand back, add some primer/putty.....rub back then add top coat colour.

I was at my machine shop today and they showed me the oil squirter that broken off, head will be taken off tomorrow and new valve stem seals will be done for sure and they will also vacum test the ports to be safe... Most likely ill get rings and bearings and a new gasket kit for the whole engine, also a light hone will be done...

So what do they think caused the oil squirter to break off?

Probably a good way to go anyway Andrew. Rebuild the engine before you put it in your car. How much is this going to cost you...or would cost you, without mates rates?

It is not uncommon to find oil squirters in the sump, the cause can be related to engine vibrations or forged piston bosses tapping them. A common problem when building forged 63's is not compensating for piston to squirter clearance when the engine is under load.

In your case, I would say it was a result of tapping the pistons.

In forged builds I run Evo 8 squirters as they sit at a better angle and miss the pistons. Other options include bending the stock squirters with a large radius whilst being gentle around the bronzed section or trimming the tops.

Your right on Koray it was from tapping on the piston which I missed adding to my last entry, will speak to my mate at his machine shop today to see what the outcome will be for sure today. He said to me normally he would charge for rings, bearings, a hone, valve stem seals, chemical washing Engine in and out for about $1500-$1800. That's a rough price though but when your ready and if like we can go see him together Simon and you can find out everything and might even give you a better price with me there...

$1650....that's right in the range. Considering some workshops want $600 for a timing belt change it's not too bad really.

Andrew, do you have a clutch master cylinder lying around i can grab off you? Mines got a slow leak in the same spot as Bitza had on his AC project (cheers bitza...had a look at mine after i read your post and yep it's leaking). Don't really want the car off the road. Prefer to reco an old one and swap it over.

Badly adjusted master will cause "crunching"........once the pedal is adjusted and pushed past the internal return port the compressed fluid becomes "trapped" in the line causing the clutch to be slightly engaged..........this will cause difficult shifting.......but mainly down the box.
