The bay looks great Mike, how does the firewall look under the brake master and the clutch slave?.... nearly all cordia's are rusted in these areas. Love your work.... |

It was a surprise how well the paint came up underneath the layers of dirt, still a nice shine even. Little to no marks that I can criticise aside from the RHS strut tower where someone has started engraving the VIN only to scratch it out which will be somewhat covered once the strut brace is on. Not before being rust treated of course. From what I can see of the firewall rust, you could say it appears to look like the 'standard' expected amount, hopefully no worse. I'm making a start on that area tomorrow morning so expect some before & afters. Still using your thread for my get up & go, nothing left untouched! |

Good to see your still having a go at getting her back on the road it easy to loose interest with big rebuilds like this. It's looking good mate that engine bay looks mint well done |

Thanks for the words mate. Yeah that's it, like I said before I haven't made much progress on it since early this year it's only now I've kick started again & got things going. I've made it my main interest now so no excuses. |

The weather has delayed me further this week so little has been done. A few updates worth mentioning though - I scored a SuperPro front bush kit & Gates accessory belts while on sale for a good cheap price from an eBayer I usually buy with, so that order should be picked up tomorrow then the sway bar can be refitted & the belts can literally hang around until a later date. I'll also be dropping the radiator off on Monday morning to be reconditioned. Once that's done I can mount the refurbed fans back & put yet another completed part away AND out of sight. Swaybar sanded, cleaned & ready for paint: Stoneguard followed by satin black top coat: (old bushes came in handy for something!) Bush retaining brackets sanded, cleaned, etch primed & hit with some gloss black. Nuts & bolts also wire brushed & degreased: Fan housing in the process of being sanded with some 80 grit: Etch primed awaiting satin black top coat as well as the mounting brackets: One engine mount now cleaned up & painted: |

Appreciate the comments guys! Just another minor update to show things are still moving along. Fan housings complete in satin black, I was quite happy with how these turned out. I still need to drop the rad off to be reco'd so I can piece them back together & back into the engine bay to create more clean parts space on the parcel shelf. Booster getting a clean up Complete in flat black: No before shots of the airbox but here it is 99% complete, clamps still need painting. The firewall rust: Cleaned up with 80 grit & rust converter applied, however not 100% yet. The steering rack will come out next so I get full access to the rest of it underneath. So there is where I am at for the moment. I'm planning to have the rack out over the weekend so I can lay some paint down to the firewall & subframe then fit the booster back & order new brake & clutch masters. I've also noticed that there is no listings whatsoever for the steering rack bushes, I've yet to see their condition but the rack has been rebuilt/replaced before sometime in it's life as there is a Pedders sticker on it so they may be okay yet. However I'll be needing another boot for the uni joint if I can source one. I haven't been able to refit the front swaybar either as there was 'apparently' a manufacturing delay with 2 of the bush kits that I had ordered as a part of the full front kit, so maybe by the weeks end they'll be ready after the almost 2 week wait & falsely advertised as being available. I'm starting to run out of room inside the car to store parts so I'll get some space back once the rad is done & swaybar refitted! slythr, here are the part #'s for the Gates accessory belts: Alt & WP 13A1015 A/C 13A1065 P/S 13A0660 |

Nice work Mike, the uni rubbers are difficult to install, I found no listing for the AC when I did it, for a quick and dirty repair on the steering uni joint, just cut down a rack end boot.......worked for me. |

I got my belts in, and 99% sure the ALT/WP is wrong. Called gates Aus. and they gave me 2 part numbers for it, 13A1015 and 4PK975, pretty sure it's the latter |
