Just doing some research on turbos and found this.

FP 68HTA Turbocharger for DSM

Quote:
Everyone has seen or heard about Evo3 16g turbos and TD05H 18g turbos for the Mitsubishi Eclipse 4G63 engines, our newest turbo for this application is the FP 68HTA&trade Turbocharger for DSM Flanged Vehicle which out flows both the E316g and 18g wheels and allows for higher PR operation without increased compressor outlet temperatures like the existing 16g and 18g wheels. Mass flow is increased to a whopping 47lb/min which is several lb/min greater than either the E316g or the 18g wheels are capable. Rapid spool and large torque numbers are guaranteed by the TD05H turbine section.

Price: $925.00

Looks the goods. I'm thinking of buying one, does anyone have any opinions on these.

It's basically a TD05H with a larger compressor wheel...........is that price American?

Yeah US, i thought it was a pretty good price. So your saying it wouldn't be a bad buy? So a TDO5H with good spool?? I just want a upgrade from the 16g. i was looking a the FP green.. Would i just be better off with a TDO5-20g?

To be honest I can't see why...........with turbos you need to look at both compressor and turbine A/R's..........for quick spool, a small exhaust turbine is great........for top end power..........no way............modifying turbos with larger compressor wheels my "drag" through more air at lower RPM, but in the end you may still over speed the turbo due too it's original turbine wheel turns quicker when more boost is wanted, ending up in journal failure.

It's up to you.

Forced Performance Turbo's have a good reputation in the Evo community with the White/Green/Red/Black series.
So yeah why not if you can afford it.
But if you're on a budget, I'd recommend a turbo from kando_dynamic, great value for way less with reliability.

If you want a stock looking replacement with (small) benefits, there is no better option.

From a performance point of view, it’s a big waste of money (IMO). It is not 300-$500 better than a 16g and therefore should not be sold at 300 - $500 more than a 16g. Though they have been on sale for muuuuch cheaper!

Buy from Kando Dynamic, they are way more bang for your buck.

Hey Tim, have you heard of one failure? I haven’t?

Some members over at 4gtuner are convinced that some of the big boys buy from Kando, then sell at a faar steeper price.

Koray: On the kando_dynamic topic I've never heard of a failure, but only heard of a picky buyer who received a turbo with a scratch on the comp cover. This was returned and the turnover time was very quick.
Now regards to the 'big boys' buying from kando_dynamic (or same supplier), it's a huge rumour but I do believe it, He does sell very cheap and does in house balancing etc. I have asked for a custom turbo (my evo) from kando_dynamic and he can make it to my liking but cannot provide test results on a car. This is probably where the 'big boys' can...

I've bought cheaper turbos of ebay before and ended up with heart ache from them, i'm just very scared of ending up with rubbish.. Thats why i was thinking of going with Forced Performance who have got a good name for themselves... But you guys reckon Kando Dynamic Turbos are pretty good??? Have they got a website, or are they just sold on ebay through a guy from Taiwan? The ebay items dont have alot of info..

Originally i was looking at a GT Pumps TDO5H-20g, which is $1350.00..

That FP 68HTA turbo will be fine although you haven't stated what your goals are.

Every Kando Dynamic or Kinugawa turbo I have looked at has been ok.

Basically the turbo i have now is a TDO5-16G, when i originally put it in and took it for a test drive it almost ripped me of the road with uncontrollable boost. It destroyed the clutch, so we pulled it out and enlarged the intake and wastegate. It still is pretty shit, as i still have boost problems with it.

I basically want something that is producing a bit more power than the 16g with good spool up and a turbo that will directly bolt up. Oh and good quality.. I'm looking for hopefully 180-190kw.

Wow, well kando dynamics sounds like it has pretty good support.

From what I've read, both suppliers are good. I was looking into a FP turbo, which was a modified GT30, used the dual ball bearing cartridge... alot of money, but if you're chasing Hp, will be more efficient than a journal bearing TD series.
