just curious if this is a stupid idea, am thinking bout getting the muffler replaced with a 3" straight pipe, titanium or something shiny :P, just curious if thats gonna effect the engine in anyway, like exhaust flow, fuel flow, etc? currnelty it has a straight pipe from the dumppipe and just a muffler at the end, so it would be a fairly short pipe. ive done this to my old 31 , extractors to straight pipe, no resi/muffler and that was tough. got defect for having a after market tip though ( was twin tip ) was peakinggg, bought 1500$ rims that night for it lol. anyway that wasnt turbo though so im thinking it is a completly different process since the cordia is turbo..and advice? im not having a resi or cat put on it as it doesnt have one already

Cop magnet. Why not just spend some money and get a decent flowing muffler, will sounds better and stop you being a cop magnet.

?????

it wont affect the car but i dare say it will be a short lived affair and would attract a non horespower adding sticker, ADR's state the exhaust has to pass through a minimum of one muffler and they go on to say the turbocharger is not a muffler. You would be better off putting in one reso in the middle if your going to do this, you will still get the volume but at least then if you get a pretty yellow sticker its just a matter of bolting a muffler to the end of the system to make it quiet enough to pass, a reso in the middle will kill most of the drone as well.
when I had the reso only in my cordia and straight through pipe i lasted about 4 minutes before being pulled over, yes it sounded tough as though.....

In short no it shouldnt harm your motor.

fuuuck just got it then, came back here to post and then saw the replys lol :\
well to start it is fudging INSANE and im scared already to drive. got it home but omg.
im thinking bout the resi idea but jus curious if this would be ok to do. from where the straight pipe is could i just get a exhaust place to weld some sort of muffler to the end of it but at the same time not have some big box kind of looking thing? i dont want a cannon on the end. also i dont have any resi's in on it and if i did decide to get one placed in the middle he would charge me more then just getting a tip done to it. ( when i say tip i mean some sort of muffler but without the muffler look if that makes sense ) the one that was on it was this big square thing.

cop magnet would be the best way to describe it right now and so devd i thought this was gonna be a dope idea :( lol

Your car: MY car? hmmm a black hunk of metal that moves once every year
did the exhaust shop even warn u about volume regs? one shop i went to a few years ago said they wont do the job i wanted as it would be breaking the road rules and they can possible get in trouble for doing the work.

Unless you're running high boost and a decent turbo/engine combo thats going to make fudge all of a difference when compared to a decent flowing muffler.
