Hey guys so I just brought a 4wd cordia from Sydney just wondering if anyone has any history on her. By the looks of it it's had quite a few owners over the years

Ok............It's not a real cordia AWD,. but a FWD converted............you will be missing alot of parts if you want to keep it original.

I'm not that interested in keeping it that original after all it's only a made up one. I just want it clean and road rego'd. Probably end up hill climbing and circuit racing it a bit on club days. Out of curiosity how much was different between models?

I dont see how the car would pass blue slip. Its not a original 4wd car. The chassis and firewall were cut up. Its like converting LHD to RHD without official engineering clearance.

Does your cordia have plates to officially declare the car as 4wd, or is it a backyard conversion job.

It's got engineers certificate for everything from floor pan, suspension and gearbox replacement, to engine size increase, cage and seat reduction. Everything that's been changed or modified has been ticked off.

In all honesty, i dont think you will achieve anything having this 4wd cordia, unless you actually fit a Galant vr4 4wd gearbox. Reason being is that if you break it, its over. No spares, nothing.

Secondly, its providing more weight to the car, so its going to be power sapping via drivetrain loss. Not only is the gearbox non existent, the diff is also obsolete. Even if you fit or modified a 2 litre 4g63, are you going to be launching hard, or drive like a granny, knowing you have a 1 off available gearbox. I guess this cordia is good for novelty purposes and for 100% standard specifications only.

All the best with the restoration.

That's not exactly true you'd be surprised by how close the box is to a standard cordia. There's not much a good engineering shop can't make these days. Plan is to fit one of the 63 I have here see how long the box lasts then fit vr4 running gear when it brakes.

You will need to gusset the drivers side chassis rail if you want to fit anything other than a standard box, as seen here:
