Valves............how do your exhaust ones look?

They are usually pitted.

You can still by new aftermarket ones that are inexpensive, did this on the AC just to be sure.

They look pretty clean, if you run them over a wire wheel they will look new.

top pistons was bad carbon was like 5mm thick.
valves were covered staying open.
so i don't wont to remove piston don't see the point.
cylinder walls are clean no sign of bad pistons.
my older engine i might built it up later on in case
i blow this one up for over boosting :P

Hi Fernando,

Sorry you are having so much trouble getting the car going. I would never of thought the engine would of had so much carbon build up. For those that wouldn't know this was my old engine. Oil was changed with mobil 1 every 5000km's then when that got to expensive i changed to gtx3 every 5000km's. I would be very surprised and sad to hear if there is any damage to the pistons or bores. It did run smooth as a whistle until it decided to not boost anymore. would start off in 20 vacuum , accelerated to 0 , then would not go into boost pressure.

For all i could of known it may of just been a vacuum line split or missing. maybe it was all that carbon doing something. I never opened it up to find out. I just bought a vr4 front cut instead and went vr4. This was all in 1999 mind you so that engine has sat under cover for probably 17 years. If after this fixing up by Fernando it works then I will be very excited and happy for him and would love to know what the problem is / was.

Good luck with it,

Brad

Hi Brad welcome back.
To me is all a learning experience.
I really don't know anything about engines.
I can replace & remove engine parts
But the function is another story .
About the boosting on this engine
Only Andrew can answer your question .
I have read one of the post here, guy says if your engine has very low
Compression the turbo will not boost !
Also just cause engine has fuel pump doesn't mean fuel is going in to throttle body.
It needs compression so I have learn quite a lot .
After I did compression test found out no compression at all dry or wet.
My son said the way engine turns so easy means also rings are stuffed pretty
much as f... Up as my AB one.
My son shook his head told me stop wasting my time lol.
I don't give my baby up that easy lol
its giving me something to keep busy and a purpose in life
my biggest problem is finding cheap parts .
the more i dig into the engine the more it costs.
i have spent over 2k on this car.
its not even registed yet
engine still stuffed some times i feel like getting a strong rope

i suppose 5k is not so bad to keep someone sain in head.
i think that's what will cost me in the end.
i need to get me job before i go nuts

That's a shame :(
Also yeah 5k isn't too bad for something that keeps you happy
Mine will cost a little more and that's just to get it in a nice, stock look with a standard 4g63t

update:

my new seals have arrived :D
time to put head together and test compression.

i tried buying these in Autoone .
that's where i normally buy my parts from specially paint.
i must admit haven't bought car parts probably 10 years.
i know the fellas that work there they always give trade discount
on paint .i asked for seals they said most suppliers have closed
is not worth it for them ring Adelaide or Queensland etc
to find they will charge double the amount of money.
best for me to buy online.

It's getting exciting! Are you getting you head checked at a shop? Or bolting back on and compression test?

no need to have head checked ,was never blown gasket
its not warp .
i had a look on YouTube about checking head .
use ruler and Feeler Gauge is all good.
i'll be using my old gasket as nothing wrong with it.
just to check compression hopefully has good compression
if not i'll need new rings done, possibly new oversize pistons
this way i don't waste my new gasket.
im just gona cross my fingers some times a bit of luck goes long
way
