Hi, welcome to the forums. there's an intro thread already but i'll let it slide since you actually asked some sensible questions O_O. :p just joshin with ya.

number 1: no, sorry. the bit ofer the instruments is easy, just take out all the screws and pull. the rest is like, glued on.

number 2: have a look at the back of your instruments while you got the dash out, maybe there's a bell in there, just guessin. i always wanted my car to make that noise :p. can see how iut'd get annying as hell though.

number 3: buy a GSR. reasonable answer. money spent upgrading a GSLs power is money wasted.

numbers 4: keep an eye out in the parts classifieds.

I've got some extractors for a GSL, you can have them for cheap.

If you also get a 2" exhaust it will go much better too, so extractors and a 2" exhaust. But really it's still not going to be very fast, so yeah!

3) weber 32/36 carb, extractors & exhaust - if you *really* wanna put money into the n/a engine then some head work and a nice cam will gain you some power. but it'll never be as good as a turbo cordia... you could always build a powerful n/a 4G63 engine though?
