After spending alot of time (and money) the conversion is now achievable using stock parts. Just use the VR4 shaft, but remove the outer CV and replace with CB Lancer DOHC one. Simple. Size is 25/30/50. |

Does that model lancer use a centre mount bearing? If so would the entire shaft be suitable instead of combining it with the VR4 one? |

I'm having alot of trouble with this, people don't understand.................just use the whole VR4 shaft........but replace the VR4 CV with a CB Lancer item..................done. No....Lancer is a straight shaft. Attachment:

That is a very good bit of work. You have now made it very clear. I did not realise that simply by changing the CV the overall length would reduce as the shaft itself obviously is the same. You have proven it though so one again great find. |

Thanks Wayne, Took some time and research, but it's done for everyone else to enjoy. |

I would not be able to race without this. At Winton recently my CV blew and my only spare was a standard long one. It was a real handful and a late model WRX and EVO 5 nearly beat me because of it. I have since ensured I have spare VR4 one. |

Andrew is a legend! I think I missed this thread. Well I have now acquired a 2 piece vr4 drive shaft and ordered a CB lancer outer CV. I'll be doing this when the parts arrive. And yes this thread should be stickied in the FAQ's. |

Is this on the standard block that the intermediate shaft bolts to? I had a magna shaft leading from the gearbox which was only mere mm's off from the 2 vertical bolt holes, which I then had a bracket made for. If I'd known that a vr4 one could go on, man I could have saved myself a lot of dramas back then. Are you able to get a measurement of how long the intermediate shaft is? I think I have found where it bolts to, but can't be sure. |

From the pics that looks like a lancer shaft.................they are too short. What car do you have? The TJ magna may be the one you need. |

Post subject: | Re: Equal Length shafts |
It's actually a Magna TP shaft. And basically a magna gearbox (galant km210) If I change to this VR4 shaft, I take it then, that my passenger side shaft would then be shorter, as the Gen 1 magnas already have equal length shafts |
