It's called an ignition igniter.............pretty hard to get hold of though.........places like REPCO sell them new for over $700!

I'm lucky to have four in the shed.

As mentioned, ignitor or ignition module or knock controller. What it really does is a combination of an ignition module and knock control.

You can still get new ones at terrible prices. You can also get rebuilt ones at very unreasonable prices.

Or you can fit up a 2nd hand one with no guarantee of how long it will last.

Another option is to replace it with a different ignition module ie. Bosch BIM 024 which is very cheap but you will lose knock control.

people dont realise though... car stops, they take it to mechanic, he works out after fiddeling for a while that its the igniter, rings mits/repco etc etc untill he finds one, they say $700 he tells the owner and tells them there is no other option, they either foot the bill or scrap it

most people dont have much mechanical knowlodge, and mechanics dont do anything to help (as a general rule) unless you take it to a performance shop they are not going to recomend an aftermarket ecu

Mostly a mechanic has no specialized knowledge of a particular type of car. So they make a diagnosis, and quote the repair on the correct parts available. The point is, take your car to a mechanic who is very familiar with that type of car and it's repairs.

easy said not done when it does come to a cordia not to many guys out there know a hell of a lot about the old cordia its sade really when ya flip the lid and they see the 2 injetors most of them start scratching heads it always pisses me off lol
thats why a lot really got fot the vr4 op. its easy to fix kinda

Most faulty e101 i have seen are easily fixed as they suffer from dry joints on the
soldering and a capacitor that goes leaky.

If you have a look at the last post (from me) in the thread referred to by esky above, the price for one of them is still about that much (as stated in the thread) when I last queried it a couple of months ago from AFI (Australian Fuel Injection). They have several branches across the country.

I have cut open my old one and unsoldered as per the directions but the board isn't coming out. I can't see what is holding it.

If you have unsoldered the red circled area's and removed the plastic locator lug then
there should be nothing stopping it coming out albeit it is a tight fit,
i cant take any more photo's as i don't have a cordia at the moment and my spare e101
was incinerated along with the car.
If anyone has a faulty one that they want me to try and fix ( for free) you can pm me and i will
take some better pictures of it.
