Is the o2 sensor single wire? If so you should do the 4 wire upgrade 02 sensor (example:http://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=4553916&cc=1442164&jsn=362) . I had the same problem of my single wire not working throwing the code and keeping the car in open loop for the fuel injection.
Take and find a new modern upstream O2 sensor and find the wire breakout. Cut off the plug end and join the two ground wires together and ground them. Take the wire from the ECU and join it to the sensor wire from the O2 sensor. Take the last wire, which should be the 12v lead for the heater and connect it to a switched 12v source (I connected mine to the EGR 12v hot line since I deleted my EGR valve). It takes a bit of work but it ensures the O2 sensor has a good ground and also heats up faster to get the car into closed loop.

Ok. I'll take some better pics this weekend and some of when the engine was out and post them. The front end will look like ass because I am fixing the lip spoiler and it is off right now, but it does show that the car (at least the fenders) were black and the body kit was added before it was painted white.
