don't no my chances in getting it, to far to travel.
if all gear is there and all works well it will be worth 500.
making a video would be great on the installation.

With all the work needed to get such package installed in a NON 4wd car, the install will be useless, as a normal person will be scared to break anything as parts are non existent. Yes, you will see more traction, but thats it.

Work will need to be done to firewall to install power steering rack, which is just one major obstacle. Floorpan, rear cradle etc etc etc etc etc etc.

1. If you blow the gearbox, where you gonna get parts to rebuild.
2. If you blow the diff, where you gonna get parts.
3. If the clutch is worn, where you gonna get a 4wd cordia clutch.

Its really not worth the effort. You sure as hell wont find a heavy Duty EXEDY clutch for a 4wd cordia. You will need to take then old clutch to get it rebuilt. There is no benefit in owning a 4wd cordia if your only gonna be driving with 8psi.


If you want a 4wd cordia, just get a Galant VR4 4wd package and install it, as parts are easy to get if anything breaks.

waiting for freight cost..... or did someone do a deal via PM? you can get a clutch easily enough, gearbox parts not so easy although anything can be made for a price :)

i don't believe you need to do much should just be R&R.
but i m not 100% sure ,im just thinking of the challenge in getting it done :)

I am waiting on the day when someone from here, will take on that task and make a 4wd cordia.

These days galant and evo parts are everywhere and as you've said you can get a whole galant for
couple of grand with all the gear.

It would be absolutely catastrophic if someone took the time,labour, and money to do a 4wd conversion from this package, and on the 1st test drive, the gearbox is clunky or the rear diff is blown.

Remember, the gearbox and diff have been sitting for years, develops moisture inside, rust etc. Thats a potential scenario.


Keep that in mind.

Exactly what i was thinking. You'd have to strip and inspect all parts before even starting. But it's the tunnel for the prop shaft that would be the biggest issue. Unless you have access to a rotisserie like our dutch friend, as well as the metal working skills he has, you may as well forget it. Without the 4wd chassis your going to be doing a lot of cutting, measuring and fabricating. Then once you have spent all your money and your life is over you will have a 4wd cordia. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see the guy with too much money and time on his hands accomplish this, but i think it will be a very long wait. GLWS!

Surely between an AWD Magna, Galant or even a TX3 mazda (which has parts of mitsi gear) parts can be found?

In a cordia? How are you making room in the chassis for the prop shaft? Would love to see some pics. Everything that can be done to a cordia has been done except this. And if it has been done it just hasn't been documented on the internet...or at least this forum. I'd keep mine if converting it to 4wd with readily available parts was within a financially reasonable domain.

here is a show of the tunel , not the best shot , I do have some from underneath at home somewhere

Im also running the CB Lancer Shifter setup so the tunel is free

The cordia tunnel will fit a tail shaft if you remove the exhaust.

Position the exhaust to hang below the tunnel and you will no longer be able to lower your car.

AWD cars have much larger tunnels for this reason.

Even at the standard height the exhaust would probably hang too low. Widening the tunnel would be a lot of work but definitely achievable.
