Anyone in goldcoast / brisbane area wanting to have a speed
lakeside raceway has a sprint event on saturday 10th aug and is open to all
street cars. Providing you drive within your limits its heaps of fun.
The track is near kallanger north brisbane.

What is a Sprint?
Sprinting is the first level of competitive speed events. The objective is to achieve just one really quick lap on the day. This means you do not have to race the car on every lap; you can take your time to get every corner right. As soon as you think you have every corner right you then lay down your demon lap of the day.
Its like a race in that you have to be the fastest to win but you do not have the expense or strain of having to drive flat out all day in every lap. This is still racing, it is serious motorsport and should not be undertaken unless you are willing to accept the risks involved.

What do I need to compete?
You will need an Australian Auto Sport Alliance (AASA said as “acer”) Clubman licence which costs $20 for the day or $55 for the year. If you buy a day licence you can upgrade to an annual Licence for $35 providing you do it within one month of taking out the day licence. You do not need to be a member of a car club to hold an AASA licence. The AASA licence covers the cost of your medical and accident benefit insurance so it is a mandatory requirement.
You will need a proper safety helmet that meets the Australian Standards and we recommend that you get a full face model even if you’re in an enclosed car.
Because you will start separated from other cars; Roll Cages and Flameproof Race Suits are NOT required; but non flammable neck – to wrist – to ankle clothing with fully enclosed shoes is absolutely necessary.
Make sure your brakes are good. If the car is over two years old new fluid and pads are likely to be a great investment. Give the cooling system a flush too.
Bring a reliable tyre pressure gauge with you.
We suggest you bring a large plastic rubbish bag to put all the stuff in that you’ll take out of the car and a couple of bottles of water is a good idea too.

Categories
The Lakeside Sprint Championship is open to all road registered and registerable vehicles complying with Qld Transports requirements to become road registered. This means the car MUST COMPLY with noise levels and other ADR requirements. The use of road legal semi-slick tyres IS permitted.
Cars are divided into three categories: 4 Cylinder | 6 Cylinder | 8 Cylinder
Turbo charged and/or supercharged vehicles will move up by one category therefore a WRX is in the six cylinder category. Rotaries rate as 6 cylinders so a turbo RX7 rates the same as a V8.

All things being even i'll be there for a fang........

btw it says spectators $10 at gate but last time there was no charge to watch and was told
there would be no charge this time as well.
