yeah ippy is abit of a hole so i try to stay away, i reckon i'll go lapping one night just for the hell of it, show them what a stock cordia is all about hahaha . yeah still not sure about southbank theres nothing there really apart from having to pay for parking....?

i used to live in ippy 20 years ago.(i'm an old bugger)
it was the done thing to do laps on thursday /saturday night.
back then there were no speed bumps coming down the main st.
i had a lc. lancer hatchback and used to run the ford escorts 2lt,datsun 200sx
geminis ect. brings back good memories.
i actually met my ex wife doing laps of ippy, she had a lb lancer hatch
so i had to follow her and have a chat about cars ect.
sorry about the ramble.
if my cordia is back together by your meet i will try and get there.
engine is getting rebuilt at the moment.

where are you getting engine re-built? i got mine done at road and track in north ippy, they did a pretty good job, but a bit costly

getting it done locally at caboolture engine rebuilders.
graham the owner has been there for 25 years and seemed to know his stuff.
he pulled the 4g63 apart to see why it was producing blue smoke.

i thought it was the turbo but it has been back twice since rebuild at gcg turbo in sydney who have been excelent and not charged me a cent to repair once and check once.because the engine was pressurizing the sump the ball
bearing turbo couldn't drain properly and blew it's seal.i vented the sump but still smoke,this time turbo checked ok so i knew it had to be turbo.

engine had quite good power still but the smoke was embarrising

graham said bore glazed , rings a bit tired,a couple of valves seats not great.
price to fix,$2500 which includes slightly heavier valve springs,balance bottom end from clutch to pulley,do up head,molly rings,open up breathers
in rocker cover.(balance shafts removed previously)good quality head gasket.

i considered going to forged pistons/rods ect but the car doesn't really
need much more power that it had. it should put out more that it had
last time on dyno it had 225 hp at wheels on 14 psi,it now has a bigger turbo and fresh engine.
