I thought this was amusing... when I was driving through the blue mountains i stopped in bathurst and decided to drive around the race track (which is open to the public.... unfortunantly with 60km/hr speed limit). Here are some in-car footage (with me trying to drive and take photos at the same time.... don't do this at home kids)

Im confused, is the actual racetrack a public road and not a race track only.

it's a public road, there are also some properties and a couple of wineries who have their driveways / front gates leading onto the track. They must cut a deal with the residents when the race is on or something.

Speed limit is 60km/hr all the time and they have speed cameras apparently. So brakes coped fine in fact i barely used them.

It does make you appreciate the skill of the drivers who race the circuit.

They also have a racing museum which is pretty sweet they have heaps of race cars on display there.

Don't forget it's both ways as well so you have to watch out at the top of the mountain. I've been around there a few times in my cordia and the initial ascent is much steeper than you think. It labours a bit if you try and stick to 60km/h.

I've heard of guys, a few locals as well, who recommend driving around there between 4-6am if you want to put your foot down a bit. But if your car is LOUD don't hang around. Problem is there is only really one way in and out of bathurst, so it's a bit of a risk....but when in Rome...

If there ARE speed cameras there, they've only been put in very recently. Somehow i doubt there are any.

Seriously though, if your driving through Bathurst, how can you not do a lap or 2.
