Will do mate, I actually can’t wait to see your car someday I bet the videos on youtube don’t serve its justice.

A while back I remember you mentioning you had a few vids of my car from when Tyson owned it. If it’s not too much trouble could you send them to me?
I was hanging for them along time before I bought the lil bastard thanks mate.

Update!!!!
I’m on holidays from study so I thought id make use of my time rather than sitting on the pc playing cod for 2 weeks lol. So out came the motor today. List of things I will be doing are:

- Replacing the Timing and Balance shaft belt with Gates Racing items due to maintenance.

- Recently my 6 month old thrust bearing has been making a crunch sound every few seconds when the clutch pedal is released in neutral, so that will be replaced along with a gearbox purchased from red23.
My current gearbox has been crunching second when cold for the last 3 weeks and red23 said the one he had for sale was in very good condition so I bought it.

- The new ported exhaust housing will be fitted to the current turbo in my path to eliminate the Boost creep which has really proven to be a pain since the fitment of the 3 inch exhaust.

- New engine mount will be made to sit the motor lower.

-Engine bay will be sprayed the colour of the car because I didn’t have enough time to do it last time the motor was out.

Ill keep you guys updated with new pics, when I take them off the cam.

I’m cracking mate don’t you worry :) . Had the motor out yesterday and today Spent few hours porting the turbo exhaust housing . Little bit left for tomorrow.

Ordered new thrust bearing along with the two gates racing belts for timing and balance shaft today. Should arrive Thursday if all goes well (fingers crossed).
For those of you who want to know, the part numbers for the 4g63 belts are T167R for timing and T168R for balance (from gates website).

Post subject:  Re: trq-str new ride

I was having a random look around the bottom end of my motor and realised that one of my rods moves left and right longways across the crank quite a lot more than the other three. I know a bit of this is normal and am wondering if I should be worried about this. Are there clearances which I should be checking? Should I re-torque that rod? or replace the bearings and piston rings because the motors pretty much bare.

Anyhow, here are some pics of my progress. I have fitted a new 19 row oil cooler. The dump has now been heavily ported to suit the modified o2 housing and I am in the process of porting and polishing the head again lol. The manifolds will be port matched to suite.

I have purchased a 19 row oil cooler, Gates racing belts, a Nippon racing rebuild kit with Mls head gasket, a can of ACL Hylomar spray and some copper gasket maker.
I have been advised not to use this MLS head gasket, I have no idea why. Should I use it or get a standard composite style? I plan to run around 20psi.

Now I’m looking for Jap timing belt bearings, ARP head studs and possibly ACL Racing Rings and bearings if I get my hands on clearances to go about a rebuild.

Any ideas would be great, thanks in advanced.

Koray.

Just a little update.

I’ve been porting and porting and porting and porting for days now and finally its almost complete, just the head to go (all this porting better be f**kn worth it lol).

Got my hands on a new 30 psi Autometer boost gauge (don’t ask questions lol) and some ARP head, main and rod bolts/studs for reliability.

I finally got off my arse and removed the snapped bolts from the exhaust housing I’ve been porting. Now I’m waiting on ACL race series bearings and new timing pulleys. As far as parts go I should be set. Ohh and maybe a set of forgies (still thinking about it).

Once I’ve got all the parts and the porting is complete the head and block can be sent out for the decks to be planed/honed. Then shell be ready for assembly.
