I actually removed the "bulge" from the CV cup to allow more clearance, the cup slightly rubbed on the sump on initial fitment.

Sooo gooood Koray..............That's hugely thick intercooler, your charge temps will be bugger all!!!!!!

Is it fouling the brake master cylinder?

Love the engine mount by the way.............guess you are not running power steering?

Did you align the engine level?...........I found if I did this I couldn't shut the bonnet with the cam cover on, let the engine have a few degrees of fall especially for the oil pick up and to allow oil to drain from the turbocharger.

Excellent work!!!

Andrew, the engine has .5 to 1 deg fall, for the reasons you stated above.

Ps will be a hydroelectric astra unit mounted near the firewall. A Yellow top optima and 90A alt will take care of the added load.

I have considered manual steering, I couldn't find a rack.

Everything clears the cooler, however the brake master reservoir was reversed for clearance. Ill post detailed pics soon.

Hydroelectric steering.........would like to see that, I just threw out my manual steering rack.....bugger!

Happy new year.

What brand are those coil overs and strut tops mate? Are adjustable strut tops a seperate item to coil overs? I need to change the camber on my colt some how when i put on the cordia brakes. The only way i can work out to do it is pretty dodgy, by flogging out the top strut mount bolt and changing the angle. I dont think camber bolts will work enough.

Love your car by the way. I have a cordia project of my own to get stuck into , if only i had the time.

Thanks mate and happy new year to you.

Bummer about the rack,

As for the Hydroelectric setup, it seems simple really. The Astra units are self contained and run stand alone. They ramp up and down by themselves based on load via steering input . Custom lines from any reputable hydraulics specialist and then you're done.

They are BC BR coilovers to suit an evo2. They come with the top hats but need to be modified. you will need to widen the holes in the strut tower and outside profile the perimeter of the hat. I have camber bolts, I no longer use them as I have the coilovers. They do the job, just annoying for me since I am always pulling components on and off.

Not sure why you would bother with cordia brakes when magna, vr4 and evo123 twin pots are so cheap these days.

Many perform mods one at a time and keep the car on the road as long as possible, for me that wasn't going to happen. I had an idea where I wanted the car to be and what it was to be used for.... having her off the road this long was the only way it was ever going to get there.

Thanks for the kind words, I hope someday you can make time to work on your project.

I was never really happy with the welds on the piping from the previous post, too much oxidation which I was not happy with. I began working on fitment, It was quite good before but now I can get it perfect.

Getting a little anal at this point, lol

I upgraded to a dual flow gas regulator and a 28mm gas lens to properly flood the outer and purge the inner of the pipe, here is the setup

Another peak at the 3" dump...... this will flow better than anything off the self. Downside however, is that the front pipe will need to be removed for oil filter changes (more on this later).

Four sets of intercooler pipes later the welds are finally at a standard I am happy with. Ohh..... and I wasn't joking about the four sets

And finally perfection!!

Nice pics Koray, might be time for an offset clutch master cylinder reservoir.

nice job wouln't be easier to bend pipe?
so much welding lol

Post subject:  Re: trq-str new ride

You are right Andrew, I will be using a Galant gsr res for the clutch master, the standard item clears by 3mm.

Fernando, problem with bending pipes is kinking them and off the shelf mandrel bends are all large radius. If you have long sweeping bends this is ok. For my piping, tight radius bends are the only option. lobster back allows you to alter the radius while maintaining pipe diameter.
Lastly, it shows off fab skills and looks badass

I must admit looks great :D
just wondering are you using tig welding?
bought me cheap mig from ebay-http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/130Amp-MIG-Gasless-Welder-Welding-Machine-Tool-10Amp-Plug-DYNAMIC-POWER-/401073099103?hash=item5d61d1d15f:g:nfEAAOSwAQFTxiwt
been welding my exhaust .
im not professional welder but it has given me some
expiriance also im using flux cored gasless .
it feels like weld not very strong very brital.
am i doing something wrong?

Yea mate, 304 ss - TIG welded @ 50-60amps using a foot control.

I have not MIG welded in 10 years so I'm not in the best position to give you advice with your welder. However, there are a bunch of welding channels on Youtube that will answer your questions, here are a few popular choices.

Pm me some pics and Ill try to help.

I have been busy working on the new 3" dump back exhaust, here is a pic

Image

For anyone interested the components are as follows:
Venom 5" 100cell cat, (largest available)
Xforce 6x14" mid muffler,
Xforce MP03 6x10x16" rear muffler
Jmfab 304ss turbo flange
3x 3" Vibrant V-bands
304ss 76x1.6mm wall piping (1.2mm was not available)
304ss 45x1.6mm " (wastegate)
12.7x1.6mm tube (mounts)

The mufflers selected are the largest volume that would fit the body in an attempt to keep the car relatively quiet. The exhaust is body hugging tight and sits as high as possible to maintain a legal ride height. At this stage, the control arms sit parallel with the floor and the lowest part of the car is approximately 120mm. I could go lower but at this stage don't want to mess with corrections to roll centre.

Post subject:  Re: trq-str new ride

So the lowest part of your exhaust is where it passes under the rear trailing arm?

My system is like this (pretty much straight) to remove the bend around the fuel tank, but I've found water "pools" in this area.

Author:  TRQ-STR [ 21 Mar 2016, 18:05 ]
Post subject:  Re: trq-str new ride

Lowest point ATM is the mid muffler, under the trailing arm has heaps of clearance. the pipe sits very high up and follows the contours of the tank. Ill be sure to take measurements and post pics once it's all welded up and reinstalled.

My previous exhaust was mostly dead straight after the dump with only two 45's just before the tank. It sat way too low and for that reason I could not lower the car.

Water pools inside the pipe? Does it get there via condensation or does it enter though the tip?

Author:  Bitza [ 21 Mar 2016, 18:08 ]
Post subject:  Re: trq-str new ride

Condensation.

I only have a mild steel exhaust at the moment on Bitza, it's stuffed!

Your exhaust will look great, can't wait to see some pics.
