WELLLLLLL update time, ish

redid the cam/crank dizzy timing after finding it out by a tooth, car has no balance shafts and has one hell of a vibration at 4k or so

i have clocked up a few k's on the motor so i upped the boost from about 5 to 10psi, and after fixing the timing it went from being

'this is alright for a stocker....' to 'holy shit' i had a smile on my face i haven't had since Steve tuned it to 14psi


couple of issues, it bogs a bit at low rpm, is running rich when flawed (not such an issue) and has a really nice flutter... but im not running a cut box or intercooler
so im thinking its a vac leak but i cant find it, it might be the O ring on the X-over pipe and its making boost in neutral when i rev it, that's something new

needs new thermostat and front water line off the turbo started leaking after i replaced the oil return, perhaps i was a bit to rough with it for its old age.

its goes back into mechanic on Thursday to have the final touches applied and im borrowing some roady tyers to, my rears are boarder line so not such a bad idea

update well,

Droped box

helicoiled 2 threads for rear main > sump

replaced rear main seal and housing gasket

broke both water lines for the turbo (heavy corrosion) so now bypassed

car hesitates down low and if i advance the timing to stop the hesitation it pings so i have something wrong but it drives fine once its past that initial 1500 rpm pedal to the metal, its not afm i know that much so might be a couple of little vac leaks left i wanna replace the vac hose on it

i need to tighten the hub nuts and stick some split pins in before the mechanic gets it next week with his trade plate

I have done EVERY thing on his list so its just a wait and see thing i guess!

Im crazy busy on this weekend , but next weekend sunday I should be good, the drags are on Saturday at heathcote and then Targa high country on sunday , this weekend, my cars arnt ready but Im borrowing a car off work
