Hey cordia lovers, this is my turbo Red GSR cordia, bought it for $2400 aus and has deliceous mods, can't stop laughing to myself when i drive it, cause it's so much fun to drive, at the moment, it has konni lowered suspension, large front mount, bleed valve, GFB blow off valve, upgraded electronic fuel pump (cause it spat it when i bought it!) straight through 3 inch exhaust with high flow cat, and reasonably nice CSA 16 inch alloys, oh and a yum stereo with 6 inch up front, and 2 12 inch audioline subs in the back. the car is overall very nice condition, will send more pics if people appreciate it as i do, can't believe how loud this car is, even when i try to drive it carefully!, echoes and resonates profusely! rides perfect, except for bottoming out on speed humps etc! let me know what you think. oh got dyno sheets if anyone wants to see, at the moment its 93.4 kw on 12 psi boost, happy with that as it's an AC model on unleaded

Looks pretty damn clean! I love how the front mount is almost totally hidden away from view for that sleeper look. I had a 2.5" straight through on mine with no muffler and the exhaust note was fantastic, you just can't stop grinning every time you boot it!

Enjoy her! :)

thanx man! good to hear, yeah i will enjoy her, little thing bothering me , sometimes when i start it it doesnt turn over, something to do with the starter motor solenoid or somethin, probably take her to Boostin Oz 2morr., just want that little problem fixed, it's only 1 out of 20 times i start it, but a pain in the rektum cause i have to get it push started, but hey, over 20 years old, can't complain, motor runs deliceous, and boosts hard, took her for a good 450km cruise with my woman, and we had a blast, picks up so quickly even in 5th gear! pass a car, and look at the speedo, whoops, 160kmh! soo smooth, too smooth, do those speeds in an exa and it feels like it wants to lift off and fly away!

bugger, i think they are pretty strict, cooler/ bov is easy fix, just chuck a x-over pipe on as for exhaust, mebbe get a smaller muffler with flanges put on, bolt yours back on once its cleared, i wouldnt have thought timer was defectable and boost controller isnt that hard to stick back to stock as well (providing it isnt something too fancy and wired in)

is the cooler illegal??, coz my turbo pipe is facing down, so a crossover pipe is not an option, it also has lowered king springs, which i'm hoping is legal, boost controller is off, and blow off is the easy part, getting a couple of flanges with small holes put in exhaust line, please cooler be legal!! nothing was cut too fit it, even still has air-con!

Your car: Cordia Turbo AC GSR,
Wrecked AB GSR,
CB GSR,
VZ Acclaim Wagon
So long as you have retained the original intake system & Not put a pod on, You are allowed 1 intake mod (intercooler) only in SA. Your springs will be fine as long as they are not cut & you have a minimum of 80mm (iirc) clearance from ANY PART OF THE VEHICLE.
This means if you exhaust is hanging lowest (it usually is), measure from there.
Also not sure what wheels youre running but if you have an AA or AB they cannot be bigger than 15"s And if its an AC no bigger than 16"S. Also make sure your tyre placard is intact and that you severly degrease the engine and all your fluids are filled (washers especially!) 1 thing not working is a FAIL. And above all no matter how much shit the inspector dribbles PAY ATTENTION AND BE WELL MANNERED! You will not pass otherwise.
Regency are usually pretty helpful to me when i ring them for information, there are also specifications for height, db, etc modifications somewhere for sa. Google
Goodluck
Cheers

hey guys! Car is still basically as is, been kept under the carport for a while, seeing as it has all the defects, i was driving my old exa turbo round for a while, sold that recently, bought ANOTHER white AC cordia 180000kms, 5sp, stock as a rock except a sports wheel, K&N filter retained in original airbox, and the 16 inch CSA mags you see on the above red cordia :) i will take a some pics shortly if anyone is interested, my new white cordia is pretty nice condition, paint is still shiny as, just the usual bits of rust under spoiler and a couple of small dents 1 on the bonnet, and a couple on the wheel arch (bought as is) got the car for $1500 had a buggered clutch which i recently replaced with a heavy duty exceedy. Currently am looking at getting some suspension components fixed as it just got a wheel alignment and new tyres and she tramlines a bit, i think due to bad struts and warn bushes.....expensive damn it but, she's a rare car right!? so worth it in my books.

Now i got 2 great Cordias!! 1 defected damn it (the nicest one) but both working and in awesome condition.

If anyone knows of any good suspension joints that know cordias!! let me know....too many rip offs round Adelaide!

Nice to hear...........now we both have 2 cordia's. :)

As for suspension.........you can do alot yourself.......then take it for the usual wheel alignment after most major bushes have been replaced.

Gotta love havin 2 :) mine being both AC models though...

i would love to learn how to do the suspension parts, i was told it is also the steering rack bushes???? and was quoted $900 for bushes replacement, not including steering rack!? does this sound right to you? the only reason being is the car drives fine on a dead flat road, but any divots or angles on the road, and the car will pull either way, and it can be a bit of a fight to keep it in a relaxed straight line. not dangerously, but annoying. The steering wheel doesn't have any play in it, and feels direct, i'm also thinking maybe the shockers perhaps? If i do have to replace the suspension parts do you think it would be a good option to go for lowered kings? My Red cordia has them, feels great, i mean the springs are only $250 for a set, and i'll get new shockers or whatever, got some cash but $900 just for bushes sounds ridiculous!!!

I'm not very mechanically minded, but have changed a turbo, done basic servicing, and a few basic things.

I love both Cordias, I don't think i'll part with either of them, i know the red one will take some work getting through regency.....
so i want to do a few mods....

Could be a combination of many factors, worn shocks, worn ball joints, worn tie rods etc will all effect the way the car steers and behaves over bumps........$900 is a bit stiff for 2 pieces of rubber that can be fitted in less than half and hour!

Easy way to check if they are stuffed is to get someone to look at the rack while it's turned lock to lock....if the rack is physically moving up and down, left to right to rubbers require replacement.

Thanx bitza, much appreciated, i will try to find someone with a little know how round my parts, i'll see if my mate can see it move...
only 2 bits of rubber? is it worth going nolathane?
Is the steering rack the expensive part to get fixed perhaps? i have 0 tools at the moment....thieves a while back. but would goto a reputable mechanic or someone that wants some easy $

You can get the rubber ones let alone nolathane.......honda ones look similar though............is your steering rack power assisted or manual?....as the rubbers are different.

If its leaking from the end racks I would get it fixed........but most of the cordia's I have seen the rack are in great condition. :)

Where do you live in Adelaide?

I do know my steering rack is manual. (very heavy!!) the car seems to be very original, i will get some pics up tomorrow, are the rubbers expensive? not that that matters. i want something good quality! If i can get suspension and rubbers done, i can sort out the new turbo and exhaust soon enough. the car has serviced by the books up until not long ago, had timing belt done, all sorts, but nothing to do with steering or suspension..as far as the books go...
I can't see ANY leaks on the car apart from very minor blow-by from the old turbo...the cars condition is really good especially for the age!, so i don't think the car has a major issue, great for the project i'm after. I will be keeping the original motor as i can't see how getting a different engine made legal would be easy?! or cheap??? but keeping on topic, once i get these other things done, i can do some medium distance travel in the meantime without the fear of steering into the opposite side of the road!

pmed ya
