Post subject:  My new ride (not a cordia)

Hi all, haven't been on the site for a while but I thought I'd update everyone...

After owning a e36 BMW 318is and complaining about how gutless it was I decided it was time to upgrade. I've also sold the skyline and still own the cordia and I still intend to get it race-ready.

Anyway, my new daily (still in Japan)

2002 Mitsubishi Galant VR4
Twin turbo 2.5litre AWD, Auction grade 4, 62,000 kms

Mint condition, all stock except for exhaust, wheels, suspension, sound system (the recaros, momo wheel and spoiler are factory options).

This one cost me $8,500 FOB which works out to be around $16k on the road (including rego, compliance, shipping, gst/customs etc).

My costs for anyone who is interested are:

Exch Rate $78
Cost (Yen) $665,000

FOB $8,551
Prestige Msport $1,100
Shipping $1,700
Compliance $2,300
Rego $625
Import Duty $428
GST $1,068
Stamp Duty $351
Total $16,122

(Note some of those figures are just estimates because I don't yet know what shipping etc. will cost.)

You can get them alot cheaper than that, I was just picky and wanted something really specific (2001-2002 model, Grade 4 or higher, 60,000kms or less, Manual). I think a 1997-1999 one in poorer condition with more kms you should be able to pick it up for more like $12k-ish or even less.

I think Legnums are cheaper, also auto's are cheaper than manuals.

cool, i saw a leggy the other day with 46k k's on carsales the other day for around 12 or 13 i think it was but that went pretty quick

your not far off the mark though, galants seem to be going in the 13-15k mark for the most part so if your being picky then you have done well :)

sweet car grade 4 is very good also, they had the options like that because the real super VR4 was in auto only, my friend has the super VR4 and he converted it to manual , its really nice to drive, Im thinking of a Legnum for my next Daily, the wagon would be good for my family

if you need any bits from Japan , like rare bits he is the guy to talk to , his has evo x bbs, brembos , genuine sat nav etc
