What's wrong with 86mm? It has been done to death in DSM land.

Many go even larger again, one such example is Bazengs 280Kw stroker AMG. It was built with 60thou over pistons and runs without issues.

If thats re my comment i was meaning they won't be expensive to buy. Baz's AMG is insane.

Haven't had a problem with Wiesco........although some people say they "chatter" when cold, no sounds for me.

Had Precision in my old 62.....no problems.

JE also make a good forged piston, there are plenty to choose from and if you buy from the USA the price will be right.........better than here in Oz. :)

Wiseco for the win!

I have built many vr4's with them and never had issues.

One of the engines is currently at 45,xxxk's, I build with 3.5 thou Piston to wall clearance.

What comp ratio pistons do I go for???

Author:  Bitza [ 13 May 2012, 17:05 ]
Post subject:  Re: My NEW Cordia Turbo Project

I used the -21mm dish..........which gives the 2.3 an 8.8 comp ratio, but I used a 3mm head gasket rather than the metal 1.1mm giving around 8.2 - 7.8:1.........depending on how much boost you want to run determines whether you have a deeper dish.......but the deeper the dish will cause poor performance off boost.

I would go for the -14 to allow for daily driving, that way your comp ration is 8.5:1.

I'm told I need 86mm pistons, is that 20thou or 40thou?

Post subject:  Re: My NEW Cordia Turbo Project

0.40 = 86mm.

Post subject:  Re: My NEW Cordia Turbo Project

If you want to tune on 98ron, Wiseco offer 8.3:1 comp ratio.

If you would rather E85, 9:1 is your friend.

Head gaskets becomes a factor also as Andrew mentioned above.

Worked a few nights on the beast finishing off the stereo, ripped out all the old wiring that was in the car as you can see in the first pic. I ran brand new wiring all through the car, that included 3 new sets of RCA's, speaker cabling from the front splits to the rear of the car, speaker cabling for the rear 7x10's and new cabling for my 12" sub that all run to the back of the back seats were i mounted both of my amps to. One is a 4 channel for the splits and the 7x10's and the other is a 2 channel for the 12" sub. The 2nd pic you can see the new RCA cables ready for the amps. The 3rd pic you can see is the new cd player that i got for her, it has bluetooth, front, rear and sub outputs witch are the key reasons for me buying this deck. It has total control of the stereo and bluetooth for avoiding holding the phone and driving and getting caught by the men in blue...

Some more pics of the set up, the 7x10's in the parcel tray, my 12" sub in a box, the box fits perfect in the boot and i still have plenty of room in the boot too. Whilst i did the set up i also re-painted the rear boot surrounds with the VHT charcoal paint thanks to Bitza once again for the info on the colour, it cleaned up little scratches and marks and looks neater too. The set up sounds awsome, defining loud, very very clear sound and a nice bass beat too. Quality brands and quality install means great sound...
