Pity my switches are facing sideways

Anyway, car is booked in this Sat for the new exhaust system. Can't help but feel a tad excited knowing I'll get some gains over the current set-up & a system that will help compliment the headers.

Also got some new RDA brake shoes in the mail today, which are well overdue to be changed.

And tomorrow I'll be dropping my struts off to have them shortened, pending what I get quoted first...

New exhaust fitted, looks & sounds great!

Full 2 1/4" system, 1 muffler (rear), new flex pipe & a couple of flanges among the mix. All sprayed in Black, of course.

I also had them cut the twin tips off the rear muffler & weld on just a stock looking long tip in case it was going to be overly loud. Less attention either way.. Gotta love Victoria.

Friday I didn't get a chance to drop the struts off to be shortened, so I'm hoping to tomorrow now, that'll be another thing off the to do list.

How's the power output Mike?

I actually haven't driven the car all weekend apart from driving it home from the workshop on Sat! Which is only a few kilometers away, but low end there is definitely a change, felt like there was a bit more get up & go though that was only through some local traffic.

I'm about to jump in it now & take her for a quick spin down the freeway & back :)

I'll get back to ya!!

Post subject:  Re: 1985 AB GSL Daily

After taking it for a proper spin, there is definitely a gain in power output. Between 2000-2500 rpm it picks up & moves well, for an N/A at least.

Around town it's a lot quieter, which is great, but once you step on it it's another story haha.

As for freeway driving, sitting on 110 km's the drone has noticeably dropped quite a few db's & makes for a much more comfortable ride, that was seriously starting to shit me. It was a more ear piercing sort of drone, far worse than any loud 6 cylinder turbo I've ever owned!

Money well spent, next time the car is jacked up I'll post a pic before it gets absolutely filthy.

Nice..........not sure about the trailing arm, there is nothing to leak..........have a look around......might be fuel.

Hmmm, I'll have a decent look one day this week to see where it's coming from, only noticed it today when I took that photo.. Will update when I do.

While I'm at it, I think it calls for a clean up & paint :)

The trailing arm does come apart for servicing as it's in two pieces, and there are a couple of bushes inside. I'd have a closer look at the boot if you can and make sure it's not split. Could be letting the chassis grease out and dirt/water in. Bear in mind that these parts aren't normally cleaned when you wash the car so it may just have acumulated over time.

Hard to believe it's been almost 12 months since I last updated this thread, not a lot has been happening since I bought another soarer. The cordia is still up & running, the 4G37 still not given up despite neglect. Just a few days back the toyota had been taken off the road due to a leaking water pump so I've found motivation to make another start on the cordia.

Changed the plugs, oil & fuel filter today while cleaning years of gunk build up around the plugs & surrounding area, just to get back into that inspired feel! Front main seal is still in need of replacement as well as a new gasket for the rocker cover, so there's oil & shit everywhere as you could picture. I'll continue to maintain the "basics" of this engine until it's run into the ground & then I'll undertake the GSR conversion, pending part availability.

My major goal & priority is to get the front end as straight as possible from the accident that I've previously mentioned. Tomorrow I'll remove the passenger guard & make a start with the limited tools for the job that I have to push the inner panels back out. Then I'll move onto the headlight housing area which was also affected. I have left this task so long I'm over looking at the misaligned front end of the LHS, so time to get it done & dusted. Only then I can make a start on preparing the body for some new paint.

Stay tuned.

Got a pic of the damage Mike?

Should be able to help with parts.

Go VR4!

Thanks slythr!

I thought I had some pics of the damage floating around on the net Andrew, but no luck. I'll upload some tomorrow morning after work before I start making a racket, any feedback would be awesome.

I know in the back of my mind I should go the VR4 & I just might, good to know then I might not be stuck for parts!
