Go the DOHC, it is a far better platform with huge aftermarket support.

With a tiny turbo like the td05-14b, the vr4 can feel like it is like hitting a wall at ~5k. The low 7.8:1 compression ratio relies of the turbo to produce the power..... when the turbo is too small, it runs out of puff!

With a 16g the problem is not apparent and the vr4 will pull nice to the 7k redline. However, it will drop off some at 6.5k but not that noticeable.

yeah, for DOHC is very huge aftermarket support, you can choose everything you want for your engine, thats some of the reasons why i have bought this one

i understand now the meaning of the puff, but my SOHC also runs out off puff on 5krpm and i have smaller TC-06 turbo

What did you use/do to get the top of that piston so shiny? Nice work on the rocker cover too...that would have been a bastard to clean.

I made one out of a cut away spark plug socket with a retainer welded on the top, worked a treat with the standard valve compression tool!

Good work with the DOHC, it will be very well worth your time and money.

Be sure to port your oil filter housing now that your balance shafts are removed, it is a vital step to ensure the oil pressure is correctly regulated.
