Hey guys, just thought I would share some pictures of an engine I rebuilt for a friend of mine who owns a Galant RS.

The specs are as follows:
Wiseco 8.8:1 stroker pistons, Eagle rods with 2.3l crank
Line honed mains, torqueplate honed cylinders and fully balanced rotating assembly
Ferrea comp plus valves, Kelford 272's, BC springs and titanium retainers
Kando dynamic TD06-sl2 25g bolted to Gtpumps exhaust manifold
ARP Head, exhaust manifold and Rod bolts
ACL race gaskets and race bearings
Cometic 2mm head gasket
Gates racing belt
BSE kit and ported OFH

Enjoy the pics!

Update time,

To answer your question Andrew, it didn't. Well.... not for long at least.

The build had some teething issues and the largest of which was clutch related. Keeping a long story as short as possible, here goes.

The 7.25" Quartermaster twinplate that was used in the build is known for having clearance issues with the standard clutch fork. In an attempt to rectify this issue, a Competition Clutch Forged Steel Clutch Fork was purchased to go with the QM twin disk as the standard fork would have needed grinding to clear the PP.

The new clutch fork was installed following the instructions included with the product yet the fork hit the PP. The force applied to the PP by the fork was enough to cause damage to the thrust bearing on the new bottom end. The thrust clearance increased to over 20 thou and the remains of it where circulated through the oil. With shavings found EVERYWHERE, the engine was striped and meticulously cleaned. Unfortunately, most parts had to be replaced.

With new pistons, cams, valves, bearings, lifters, roller rockers and a grinder to the Competition Clutch fork to ensure this catastrophe did not reoccur, the build was complete. To further increase the clearance between the PP and fork, the nut and bolt assembly which retains the springs on the pressure plate where reversed and the excess threads ground off. Thus far the second build has been a great success!

The engine was run in by myself for the first 20km of its life (most important stage) and then chucked on the dyno where it made 170kw at 10psi and 6000 RPM.

Enjoy the video! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RR9mMQ2RRMc

Was there any need for such a overkill clutch for this setup.

Considering its a stroked out 2.3, with cams/worked head, with a decent size turbo on it.
Hes probably going to be running a bit of boost to justify the work done...

I would want a decent clutch too Pedro.

d_nikiforides hit the nail on the head!

The engine has now turned over 2000k's. It is more than ready for a tune where it will see much more boost. However, the ignition side of things need attention first. Currently with BPR8ES plugs (gapped to .6mm), it breaks up at 10psi over 6k RPM. The current issue may be a result of 20+y/o coils. However, (even if new) I'm not sure the factory ignition will hold up with 25psi.

Andrew, the injectors are 1000cc delphi.

Also, I remember discussing ignition in the past with you, however, my memory fails me. Would I be correct In saying bitza runs cop with a factory power transistor?

Yes, but I run two in accordance with the Wolf setup for full sequential injection and ignition.

Have had no spark troubles so far.
