I actually looked at a space saver tyre, can't get one in 16 inch 4 stud to clear the front brake calipers. |

Painted my spare rim today, Sprint's wasn't open to buy some wheel silver so I had to compromise. Ended up using "alloy liquid chrome" paint for bullbars and added 3 coats of acrylic clear.................looks pretty good I think. Time for a new tyre. |

Thanks Travis, Now to mount the spare wheel.........was going to use the original bolt but it's too short, so I thought a centre mount would be better, problem is it now makes the wheel offset in the boot which will make the design of the floor difficult. Who can guess what I used to lock down the spare in the centre? |

Well, didn't like the position of the wheel so I've made a change, actually cut the wingnut off and made the base into a bolt in order to place through the lug nut. Hammered in place so it won't fall out. Has given me over an inch to play with to make the new boot floor, as I need to clear the 2 farad capacitor when the floor is lifted. Oh, and if anybody is wondering I used an alternator pulley to centre mount the last position. |

Have started creating the new boot floor and audio cover as I have moved some components..............will cover everything in charcoal carpet or should I do the blue vinyl again for the stereo backing board? My wife says do it in carpet. The spare tyre is currently not in the boot, will need to cut the centre out of the floor and raise by 80mm. Feedback welcome. |

Carpet will go over the new boot floor and audio backing board.............will be a challenge to make the carpet "sit" properly at 80mm height.............might break out the sewing machine. |

Update, boot floor completed..........just need to find some grey carpet to match.........in the end only lifted the floor by 40mm. I also added a VX commodore handle cover, don't like how the cordia has a "slit" in the carpet.........looks much nicer. |

Having trouble finding the original carpet for the boot........will keep looking, I have used black felt carpet on the underside, worked well with glue and stretched into corners easily, only downside it was 750mm X 2000m. Pic without the flash of the camera: Pic with the flash: Can anyone see the join in the carpet? Yes, my clips are upside down..........I needed it this way. |

Update: Replaced the 75 amp alternator with the 90 amp.........very pleased...........now charges at 14.8-14.9 volt where before it was 14.1-14.2...........turn everything on and volts only drop to 13.8.........excellent. Would upload pics but photobucket is full of ads and trogans these days, takes AGES to upload a pic!!!!!!!! Still need to run a fuse and wire from the rear of the alternator straight to the battery and a ground wire to the chassis, let's hope I don't have another ECU fault!!! Happy new year to all. |
