anything we can do about all the spam that has been coming lately... tis a bit frustrating... mebbe close the forum so that admins have to reg people and then have a public section where people post asking for reg if they wanna join?

not sure if this is possible.. just a thought...

I used to approve all new registrations but this is way too time consuming.

I still go through the new registrations each day and delete accounts created just for spam. This alone is already time consuming.

What I suggest for all forum members is when you see spam don't click on the links or reply to the post. That's what these spammers want. The post will be deleted by either myself or a moderator.

Mods can't approve/reject new accounts - this falls to Kham alone and if he doesn't have time, then he doesn't have time.

We are deleting spam regularly - I'm on nearly every day. Is it really that big a deal if a spam post is there for a few hours?

I am sick of the porn on this fourm.............spyware doctor has told me this site has been hijacked..............an personally i'm sick of all the trojans....can't you fix the fu#king problem?

Had this problem with Austarion and lost my PC..........fix it or I will not return!

How many times does it have to be explained? We delete spam as we see it, admin approval of accounts is no longer feasible.

The Bots shouldn't get through in the first place!

Now spydoctor says this is a BAD SITE, and I agree, nothing but trojans!

The spammers will always find a way to beat the anti-spam systems we have in place. And you can't completely block bots from accessing the site and some bots are good such as search engine spiders. It's also very difficult to totally distinguish a bot from a human. This forum is also limited by the technology of phpbb.

You need to also understand that this is a not for profit site. The small advertising revenues barely cover the cost of operating this site.

Regarding the Trojans, I have not had any other reports as such. My virus software has not picked up any reports of Trojans or any other viruses.

Agreed. There is no evidence to show trojans being spread through CP. You need to be aware of what you download and be responsible for the security of your own PC.
