just get bendix ultimate pads dont bother with those so called

racing type pads as they usually have metal in them and will

chew the shit out of your rotors.

hope this helps :)

thanx for the help guys,

so these bendix ultimate pads are pretty much the best non metal pad i can get without chewing on my rotors.

iv called autobarn, repco, and supercheap and they all quoted roughly the same price of 300 bucks.

does this price sound about right or am i getting ripped of?

were would be a better place to look for a cheaper price?

the guy at autobarn told be that the bendix ultimate pads are an ugly drive until there warmed right up.

but im guessing that hes talkin s**t and that hes never even used them befor.

you guys obviously sound like you are happy with the results so ill look into buying a set if i can find them a little cheaper.

Ultimates are dusty as all jesus and yes, they take some time to warm up.

Metal pads will wear your rotors a bit quicker but rotors are dirt cheap. Besides, I was under the impression that ultimates are semi-metals?

I never noticed much dust from my Ultimates. I was quite impressed with how they handled the track as well. I have now upgraded to Ferodo DS2500 and they are a lot more dustier than bendix pads but on the track DS2500 are awesome. But for everyday street driving I would just get Bendix pads.

i am probably too late but i use lucas pads (green box usually) they have a continuous working temperature of 600 degrees celsius. they are dusty but work quite well when cold unlike bendix which do need to warm up first.
$300 is a rip off too. got to a brake and clutch specialist. Around $100 would be a good price.

Bendix are good shit. Ultimate pads are approved by all manufacturers to not void car warrentys. You pay for 'em but.. but if you ever need to stop quick... good option.

Asta: rotors aint cheap unless they standard ;) cross drilled aint cheap, thas for sure.

Read the specs. of pads before getting anything is what i'd recommend. Different pads, different specs. Check what you need 'em for, and then buy 'em. No point getting $600 race pads for street use, coz they won't work, coz you'll never get 'em up to proper opperational temperature.

One main point is to make sure you bed them in right. If you dont, they won't work properly. Follow the instructions on the box and don't listen to anybody else's b/s.

that is all :)

interesting. Could be because of the new compound. 'else they make a different compound for 4WD?

Basically; check the box. The manufactuer knows how their product works best. Anybody who reckons they should go fast and slam the brakes... that smoke it causes is cooking the brake compound on the outside... it aint properly formed inside then... and your brakes won't work as well... and thus some would refer to such people as idiots :)

The best compund is asbestos because they contain no metal particles, genuine and old school is the best choice, thats my suggestion for you to get.

If you look at it, metal rubbing on metal is a big no no, having asbestos will do the job greatly.

asbestos is good with heat... other than that, no.

New technology is good. Generally pads are fibres and resin, hence why the pad needs to be bedded in. I think the titanium strip is a coating on the exterior... I'd say more, but i'm not sure, so shall find out 1st :)

Other than that: old gets out dated for a reason, and genuine parts? An aftermarket brand designates more time to research and development of their products than a car manufacturer does to a specific part. Manufacturers make products to do a job. Aftermarket companies try to do the same job better - and usually cheaper as they sell more of the same product.

Christ I just paid 24 american dollars for a pair of higher end ceramic pads.

Though we dont have a lot of options over here. Its the parts store specials or their top of the line specials or just the 2 aftermarket ones.

The Pads I have are Akebono Ceramics. Had pretty good reviews but we will see once the car is together.
