Hey guys,

As topic, I'm thinking of pulling apart my Cordia, as it was last reg'd start of Sept last year and I don't really want it to just rust away like its starting to now.. I had abit of interest last time I was considering parting it out, but not enough to make it feasible..
This time round i wanta get some opinions on what you think the motor package would be worth, being the most expensive part of the car guess it depends on what I can get for it as to whether its worth going ahead with stripping the car :(
Motor has quite literally done about 3000k's, hasn't been for tune as car was defected before i could get it all sorted.. No idea on power figures but imagine it should see around 230-240kw atw. Car gets started every weekend pretty much till its warm then turned off.. Doen't idle real great when cold because it no longer has the idle air bypass gear fitted, should be able to get it sorted with a good tune though..

4G63 motor (VR4)
Arias 20thou over forged pistons
Eagle H-beam rods
BC 272 cams
BC valve springs & titanium retainers
Fidanza cam gears
ACL race series bearings
balance shafts removed
balanced
Stainless manifold
TD05 20G turbo with TD06 comp cover
cometic headgasket
650cc injectors
billet fuel rail
malpassi rising rate reg.
bosch 910 fuel pump
microtech lt8s ecu (with loom to suit Cordia)
550*276 fmic with 2.5" stainless piping
3" mandrel exhaust from turbo back
prbably alot more i forgot!!

Cheers,

Dave

Don't do it!

It's too nice a cordia to wreck!

But if your willing to wreck it, I'll gladly take the alloy radiator.

Dave i know where you're coming from as i've considered selling mine. Don't know what to do. But yes you'll prolly make more money parting it. But then again it may take a long time to sell everything.
My guesstimate on the engine package as a sellable price would be about 2.5ish k.

mm thats wat i was thinking.. probably not really worth selling it for that much though.. spent ~10k on the motor :S
maybe i'll find a nice cheap nimbus
or another cordia shell (undefected :))
or a cc lancer gsr.. mm awd would be great :P

if thats the case i prob won't do it then, might just keep it where it is till i decide wat 2 do, got the s14 2 keep me happy in the meantime hehe

if i keep it to get back on the road i still need to change the exhaust (raise it n quieter), full respray (including rust removal :(), and engineers cert.. Id reeeaallly love to get another stock really straight shell and get it all painted n drop my motor in (no stereo or leather interior this time though :D)

hmm its my first car, learnt sooo much from it, owned for nearly 10yrs now!! wow.. didnt realise it was THAT long lol..

think the new shell idea might be a winner.. 8)

thanks for the quick replies guys!!

Dave

I bet you hate yourself if you sell it after having it so long and making it look so good. 10 years is a while to have a car too. I had mine on the road 10 years up until august, now its just sitting up the back waiting for me to make a decision on its future. :)

Sounds good! Shame about the other shell though... What do you have to do to get a defect removed??

to clear defect i need to change the exhaust to something quieter and that sits higher (should be able to get it high enough to get 100mm ground clearance at the height the car is at), get brakes/suspension/motor/etc etc engineered, will have to fix rust before it'll pass blue slip as well (so was going to respray whole car)..
still undecided what to do with it, keep spending all my $$ on the S14 instead of the Cordia lol..
Maybe next year year I'll be able to find some time and $$ and jus get my shell back up to scratch :) would really love to start again though.. after having a week to think about it i'd like to get it back on the road (in one form or another lol..) and starting with another shell will mean i can do things like mod chassis for a galant gbox, not fill it with heavy stereo gear and sound deadening, not fit a bodykit or leather interior.. jus do things a little different this time round :P
If i find the time and $$ this is what I'd prefer to do :P
