I can't make the pic any bigger........I would say the AFM is contained within the alloy tube.

Pic is still the same size, but you could safely assume that the wiring is hidden on the underneath of the aluminium tube.

You could run the wiring out through a hole & grommet in the underside. As for how the AFM is actually held in place though, that's anyones guess. My guess would be that the diameter of the piping takes care of holding the AFM in place.

It should just be screwed together at the back of the airbox (where the wires come out), rather than riveted. (At least it is on the AC models anyway)
You need to undo all 7 screws to remove the AFM from the housing.

I would suggest you get yourself a replacement AFM as a few of us have mentioned before undertaking any modifications.
The benefits of this being that you can work on fabricating your CAI system and still drive the car, and if it all goes pearshaped or you dislike the
results eg. sound or driveability after the fact, it's easy enough to swap everything back.

No worries, unfortunately unlike your typically modified cars the lack of bolt on upgrades is a pain in the arse.

You could give it a try, but you're going to need to remove the filter from inside the airbox so as not to restrict the airflow.
I personally don't believe the end result will be worth it, as it's just going to cause a lot of turbulance inside the airbox itself.

What third party are you using?
