Post subject:  Help needed with my cordia.

I have 1984 AB cordia and I have had her
For 12 months bought car to restore and to keep me busy.
im retired from painting cars.
OK now this car was leaking fuel from top of injectors
Also had leaking water pump so decided to start with water pump replaced with
new pump bought it from eBay and the dramas started.
They sent me wrong pump waited 2 weeks for right pump.
Mean while decided to change timing belt 2x belts and tensioner etc.
Cleaned injectors .
I clamped a fuel hose to the in of injectors.
Poured injector cleaner all the way to the top of clamped hoses.
Left it soaking for a week or two
Anyway got the water pump and replaced it next flushed my injectors
Got all in started the car had to hold accelerator down crank it to start .
If I didn't hold accelerator down it would not start.
Decided to remove inlet manifold it was very dirty yellow stains
you can see in pic.
Was told that tps can be checked with multimeter of the car in ohms.
There is no resistance in tps.
Also I checked variable resistor it has only
small resistance 3 quarter to top has nothing only 1 last quarter has little resistance.
Also There's a hole in manifold where it links to something I have in picture
It had oil in it I don't think was meant to have oil in it.
Also the hole in manifold I put air throw it thinking air would come out
But looks blocked also in pic it shows possible someone weld it

If you can clarify about tps oil in that thing.
Is it meant to be blocked any help would be well appreciated.
Thank you

Welcome to cordiapower...............what you have in your pic is the EGR valve (Exhaust Valve re-circulation), I have many AB inlet manifolds "chocked" which really can't be cleaned.

Leave the inlet as it is, this will reduce inlet and coolant temps.

Just put the EGR back on, the computer doesn't really know if it's working or not.

As for your ECU problems make yourself an error checker, saves a lot of time trying to find faults, as found here:

That's a Starion RWD pump in the pic, the idle mixture in pic 2 will have small resistance, this adjusts the CO level at idle, it's usually placed about halfway (straight) to ensure correct idle mixture.

if i place it half way nothing happens

Correct, you need the engine to warm up to operating temperature before the CO adjustment will work (remove out of cold map), if you turn it all the way down the engine will "stumble", turn it all the way up and the idle CO will be too rich, without an EGO meter about halfway is correct.

about tps not working

TPS, how are you measuring the resistance?

The unit has 3 wires, black (ground), green/white (signal), green/red (5 volt power)

Make sure you read from the signal wire to the ground wire for resistance, turn the shaft slowly so your multimeter can keep up.

This part will make or break your engine running, set too low it will stall on deceleration, set too high and the engine will sit at 1500rpm and won't drop to base idle.

tps is of the car and i checked green and red on ohms see if any resistance
by turning the thing
and nothing
also checked back to green etc nothing
obviusly the only way to checked is to be all connected
on the car .
just i was told is veriable resistor as well

In pic one the small hole is the bypass back to the block with the bottom radiator hose attached to the outlet, in pic 2 the "slip sleeve" from the cordia inserts into the water pump to ensure coolant runs across the block to the bottom hose, same principle different variation of pump.

You need to measure green/white to green/black, measuring the green/red will give you nothing as no 5 volt power source is available.

going to double check green/white to green/black

No problems, you will be "lucky" to get a new one.

When you re-install on the car make sure your Idle Speed Controller is working, it should extend when cold and slowly retract as the engine warms up.
