More bodywork today, taking off the antenna chrome bit of the roof so it looks clean.

Hi all,

At this point car has been taken a part.

Overall I am happy with it but there are issues that I didn’t expect.

As with any builds I did over the years, it always takes 3 times more than expected and 3 times the budget 

I will start with goods things;

I’ve had a look at the front chassis cracks and they are not that bad, yes it will need welding and some quality steel but everything will be strengthened and it can be fixed.

Floors , inner guards etc are all A1

Bad things;

Found rust holes below front windscreen

Some rust in boot lid at the top, and some behind those black plastic bits behind the back side window and the one at the door (will get pics later)

In my opinion some of these rust spots were never done properly, I am sure last time it was painted they didn’t take of those plastic bits and had a good look.

As always it is about do it quickly and get paid, last paint job was costed 5 k

I guess this time round I will make sure it is done correctly.

No , I did lots of bodywork on my other cars but with cordia two of my mates who are panelbeaters are helping me, its a huge job but both of them understand the importance of it. One of them had a cordia back then and we actually met driving on the road, 15 years on and we are still connected by cars and cordia :)

I've been sourcing parts everywhere and it's going well.

I've been very unsure on what engine to go with and what setup to run for weeks now.

As of today thanks to Travis, I've managed to secure a Vr4 engine minus the turbo.

I've also managed to source an evo 7 radiator and evo 7 intercooler with all the piping for 100 bucks :) very happy with that.

I've been advised to look for wolf 3d.

Bitza, which computer would you recommend?

If you can buy a second hand Wolf V4 I can give you a map, cost for dyno, minimal. :)

Hey Tom, good to hear from you.

Off course, I think some time this year we will all catch up, with or without cordias 

Thanks buddy, it’s keeping me busy but I am really enjoying this build.

Come to think.. maybe the reason I came across this car is to inspire guys like you to
go back and get one..

After all most younger guys don’t even know what they are these days, to them wrx is a classic hehe

The only people that will hang on to them and keep them existing is us “a sentimental bunch” from cordia power ;)

Andrew, thank you. Do you think that is the best / easiest computer to tune for vr4?

I saw few corridas with microtech Lt8’s

The wolf has more features than the microtech, plus if you get a microtech is there anyone on here to give you a working fuel and ignition map?

Andrew a quick question.

I sourced a gearbox and it is getting a rebuild as we speak.

1.Any tips on how to make the standard gearbox better?

I left it with the gearbox guy and he is very good at what he does but any
tips would help.

2.The previous engine was VR4 with a galant fwd gsr gearbox.

The linkages are still there.

Do you think they can be adjusted them to suite cordia gearbox or I will I need
a cordia shifter?

Thank you.

The standard gearbox has no performance parts, I ended up running a holley red fuel pump to a cooler to circulate the oil........worked well, but currently haven't put it back.

Remove the cables and get a shifter, easiest way to do it..............otherwise you will need another box like a KM206.

I’ve removed those yellow bucket seats few weeks ago but I am keeping rails as they were the original part.

I want to keep as many original parts on this car as I can, even though I might find parts in better condition I want to keep everything that was there before.

For example, washer bottle I remember back in ‘99 when we went to pick it up from the wrecker , it is still there.

Also lower control arm on the right hand side Is off my burgundy cordia.

It broke on my mate one time and he almost went off the road so to fix the car by the side of the road we took it off mine, still there 

Anyway, I’ve put these seats on hold.

I think it will look good as I am keeping the interior black.

What do you think? I’ve heard that as they are on the original rails there is no problem.

The yellow ones were in the car for 11 years so I guess it should be ok.

Well, I’ve been looking for donor car for a while and decided to buy junkman’s blue Cordia.

As you know I miss heaps of parts..

The problem is that , it is too far and plus I need to also to pick up another wrecked car.

Unfortunately I will have to let it go as the cost is way too much.

But

I did buy another donor car…

Yes I bought wizards old yellow cordia from Sydney

Finally FWDJET has all the power it needs and more

It makes 264 kw at 14 psi
