Is fuel coming out both injectors when cranking?

Put a timing light on number 1 and check it is sparking around 10°btdc.

still won't start!
we have good spark blueish color, good flow of fuel.
i have checked leads and plugs all good
cylinder 1 plug was wet the rest of plugs dry.
im little confused with workshop Manuel cause has 3 or 4 cars
so not sure if im dealing with cordia or galant, mirage etc.
i did the timing belts spot on my son had a look.
now with the dizzy in the book needs to be tdc with the rotor in angle like 1 o'clock
as for mirage is pointing down 12 o'clock.
in the pic i wrote the numbers of the spark plug leads how i have them

im not sure what 10°btdc is but pretty much yes yes yes

ok you can see the pully little white dot timing mark lined up to T
and dizzy pointing down on anglei think to 1st cylinder or 1/2 way to 3rd cylinder
if its 1.3.4.2 or 2,4,3,1

That doesn't look right............pull the dissy out, on the bottom of the gear you will see a dot, align to the mark on the bottom of the shaft.

Hold the rotor button so it doesn't rotate.

Align the body of the dizzy to the centre of the bolt on the inlet manifold........install.

Should be perfect..........time from there, should be pretty close.

10°btdc - 10 degrees before top dead centre

Put engine at top dead centre.
Align mating mark on distributor gear with mating mark on bottom of distributor housing.
Install distributor so that the mating mark on the distributor flange is in line with the centre of the stud.
Start engine, get hot, set timing.

Hey been there done that...........when I built my first 62 it too would not fire.

I ended up pouring fuel down the throttle, held the throttle wide open, turned the key and away it went.

Have you tried starting it without the AFM connected and the crossover pipe removed?

So lets start from beginning.
I bought this car with bad clogged injectors .
Got them cleaned car started no problems.
It would only start if I held the throttle wide open .
Now cause I had a few of these cars in past
I know just by turning key the car would start
Without holding the throttle wide open.
I decided to pull inlet manifold and cleaned it
Also I checked if tps and resistor is working with multimeter.
Decided to open bottom case of throttle basically 4 screws.
I cleaned everything replaced gasket with paper one the original had orange line
As you can see in pics ,could this be problem?
I never touched the butterfly thing .
Next checked compression was very bad I think 85 psi to 90psi something
Like that I think you all know what happen next.

Out of curiosity, do have both fusible links from the battery connected to the harness?

Seen this before where the ECU link was missing, car would turn over but not start.

you mean this 2 wires?
i fixed one of them but now im thinking in removing
plugs and connect straight to positive.

i been thinking why is it, the engine won't backfire?
if timing is wrong it should backfire or make some noises.

now i checked compression with old head gasket
and head gasket was bad only getting comp in 2 cylinders.
them i used old head gasket from my ab engine .
head gasket was not deformed so i used it only
to check comp and it did well all cylinders 125 psi.
now i have since replaced head gasket with new one but not checked
comp with new gasket so now im waiting for battery to charge
and i will try again .
surely new head gasket with copper cement should be good?
thats what i used.
seriously i have lost alot of hair from getting old this aint
helping

OK, do you have a multi meter or test light?

Do you have 12 volt at the positive side of the coil when the ignition is turned on?

If you do, do you still have 12 volt when the engine is cranking?

If not, your main control relay is buggered.
