Time for a bitch session, read and learn.

A while ago, a member was after an AC airflow meter, I agreed to sell mine.
A price was reached and terms were agreed, COD, he paid all charges.
To cut a long story short, this asshole never picked up the parcel, never contacted me and it was finally returned...so I copped ALL charges (postage etc).

So Steve...from Palmview in Queensland.....hope to God we never meet on the street...

I am not happy with this, if it was not required, surely he could have had the decency to contact me.

OK...Rant over. If I sell anything on here again...COD will never be an option.

Grumbly

happened to me aswell, but not with anyone on this forum, the only thing you can do to protect yourself is to make them put down a deposit 25% or so to cover costs in case they never pick it up.

Greets all - my first post!

I argee Grumbly - it's not a nice thing to do. I run a small 'net based business and send much stuff via COD and every now and then we get someone that 'changes their mind'.

Worst thing is you don't get the package back until about 4 weeks later, and in my experience they NEVER have the decency to contact you to let you know that.

At least you have a spare AFM again........

I NEVER EVER DO COD! never have never will, I have always done money order or direct deposit in to bank accounts and that has as a system worked fine for me. I would suggest this to anyone who want to buy or sell as it seems to work and be very reliable. sorry to hear about your dilema grumbly but at least you got you part back!

always look on the bright side of life:)

*looks at OzStick's post* hmmm i smell a big nasty PLUG.

As for 'dont do COD' semireal, you're asking for a lot of trust (what with people direct depositing money before receiving anything) and you're not giving any in return. That's rather rude.. remind me not to buy anything from you... :?

If both parties are legit then COD is fine. As is direct deposit, or any other means. Personally I would much rather direct deposit $20 to cover postage (if you're that bloody anal about it) and have the rest come via COD. No way in hell would I direct deposit a significant amount to a bank account unless I either know the person reasonably well or I can tie a business name, operator name and an address to the account... at the end of the day when you don't get your items there really isn't anything you can do.

Sorry to hear bout it, at least it's not a BIG $ loss, more just a big pain in the arse :/

Astaroth.

Grumbly, what happened does definitely suck arse. I think Astaroth offers the most balanced overview on this issue. You have my sympathy mate.

A big nasty plug Astaroth?? Methinks just a small one. I can always make the text in my sig file smaller if you think it's a little too "out there".

Back on to the subject, much of the problem with COD is that people don't understand how it works, even after you explain it to them. I still get people asking me to let them know what day the package will be delivered so they can be home to pay the postie!!!

In Grumbly's case the guy may have had a problem getting to the post office to pick up the package, but it still doesn't excuse him from not bothering to say anything about it. More likely he found another locally after already saying he wanted yours which makes him an even bigger @#$%*.

ASTAROTH. My methods of buying and selling have always worked fine for me, and I have never had anyone complain about direct deposit or money order payment, as I supply all of my personal details inc home and mob numbers street address post code email addy etc etc so the buyer can check up all he / she wants to about me and if they are still unhappy then they dont have to buy anything from me, I have paid for many items this way myself and have "trusted" many ppl to send me the parts, after they recieve my money. I have never once had a complaint from anyone nor have I complained about anyone using these methods of payment.
At the end of the day though each to their own, some COD some dont I didnt expect to have my way of doing things put on trial and I dont really appreciate it.

Your methods are not on trial - you offered your opinion on COD and direct deposit, and I offered mine.

You copped the charges...? :x I once had that heppen to me and the item was then returned to me in the mail free of charge. Which was nice seeing as I'd been pissed off for ages at the guy for never picking it up......
