It’s been very cold lately In Melbourne, not much time to work on the car. I took off the fuel line of the engine as the rubber hoses were gone, it was pissing fuel everywhere. Replaced the lines and had it painted black , I want the whole engine to be black and look standard as much as possible. This is the pic of the part, once I took it off. Also, getting the rear bodykit spoiler painted in Acid rush, as rest of the car.

Kennyg wrote: Need to have a close look at the dash before deciding what to do. I hope it has survived ok and a bit of amourall will clean it up. The steering wheel was awful. So cracked, mouldy and manky from years of sitting in the container. So I decided rather than buying one of the few originals that are available on gumtree, I would attempt to paint it using a grey vinyl spray paint. Take a look at the picture and tell me what you think. I'm quite happy with the finish. Still a few cracks visible around the top but a million bucks on what it was. I need to figure out how to restore the small Mitsubishi logo but that can be done whenever. I'm pretty sure I will need to wrap the centre console. Its been broken and glued up more times than Michael Jackson! Dust some clear coat (acrylic is fine) over the vinyl paint, it will stop it from flaking or rubbing off during use. |

There are 2 14mm bolts on each side of the car in the trunk.......there is a 10mm bolt in the centre bracket. |

Just got the whole those interior bits painted black and the rear spoiler in acid rush. It looks amazing, interior looks so new and tidy, a huge difference. Those colours were so horrible. Garage floor will need some attention after the spray went on it Some Pics tomorrow. Cheers |

Thanks mate, I think so too. Last weekend I had some time to work on it and made some good progress. Rear bodykit spoiler has been painted, It needs few corrections, before I can get some clear on it. Andrew, for the life of my I cannot see those bloody bolts ( to take the rear bumber off) , can you shoot me a pic please? I’ve taken the interior all out and half of it has been put back in, it starting to look really good. New steering wheel is on it’s way as well. I’ve taken the cluster out and due to sun, instrument needles have faded , I had them repainted and it looks good. Roof looked as it needed some paint but after 5 min of cut and polish, the colour is coming back, that’s plus as it will save me time. As the car was leaking fuel, I went to install the new lines but could not get to one of the injectors so plenum had to come off. Just made a new gasket for it and once reinstalled at least I can drive it out and continue on the body.

I am also doing some work on the intake. At the moment there is a pod filter on the car as it runs MT4 fuel computer. The whole idea is to have an engine bay all in black and looking neat and tidy - old school. My idea is to use the original cordia airbox, I've taken the airflow meter out. I have a k&n filter laying around so I will use it to fit the original setup, this way it will look stock. I also have the original intake pipe that goes from the airbox to driver's side inner panel. My only concern is if it's going to delivery enough air - this is probably a question for Andrew I had original airbox on my old 2L sohc , it ran 20 psi and never had any issues. Your thoughts?

This came up out of nowhere, I thought for $270 I cannot go wrong to have a spare engine. Same as what I've already have, 2L cyclone dash.

I’ve decided to keep the original rubber spoiler and install it back on the car. Previous owner took it off and installed some type of brackets for some stupid aftermarket rear wing.. yuk Even though the car is modified, I want to keep a bit of retro look and keep some of the OEM parts on it. These spoilers are getting very hard to find and this one is overall good condition, no rusted bolts, a bit of Paint fade on the side. I will leave it as it is just give it a good clean, It doesn’t have to look brand new.

That dash cluster looks outstanding in white. Where did you source that from? I reco'ed my front bumper using a Ozito heat gun from Bunnings. It was faded grey from the sun but the heat gun brought it back to life. I guess it remelts the surface layer! |

There was a guy I think in Qld, he used to make these about 13 years ago. It's good quality and the car's dash looks modern. |

At the moment I have 17 inch wheels on the car with 225 tyres. Wheels are not in the best shape and tyres are too wide, it doesn’t look right so I’ve been planning to buy a smaller, older look, type of wheels. I came across these 15 inch, in very good condition, genuine OZ racing wheels, with almost new tyres. $180 a bargain if you ask me. It will look more retro and the car will drive /steer better too.

New steering wheel has arrived, fully padded - leather. I will paint the red stitches black and will cover the momo part in black leather. it is starting to take shape- looking good.

They're nice looking wheels. I've got 14x6 Momos with a black OZ Wheels cap in the middle. I've lost 2 of the 4 caps. |
