hey guys i have this weird problem with acceleration. the car revs in neutral normally, and revs fine once the car is accelerating... but if i coast a little bit and then put my foot back on the accelerator there is no response unless i pump it a couple of times... does anyone know wat this is or had this problem before.... also if im driving then put the clutch in and rev the car it will stutter and pop and backfire.... wats goin on ... also sometimes the car will backfire from around the throttlebody.... and reverse just conks out like the car backfires and doesnt work proply but i dont think its the gearbox i think its this fuel/throttlebody,valve problem... ANY IDEAS PLEASE this car is starting to piss me off i havent gone a day without having to pop the hood. car is being worked on more than its being driven....

Shoon

Important to check all vacuum hoses and make sure they are connected properly. Diagram is on this forum. Otherwise i would check accelerator cable and throttle linkage and fuel lines/fuel filter/fuel regulator.

ok well ive checked all my vacuum lines and they are all connected or blocked off so they arent leaking. also checked timing, replaced spark plugs and leads, checked valve clearance. all was fine. also disconnected egr vacuum line cos that was makin the car run like crap anyway. i put a cut open airbox on yesterday and it seemed to help the problem but im still getting the acceleration problem mainly when i start the car and it wont fix itself unless i give it alot for a while then i dunno if it gets the fuel flowing or wat? its really annoying cos if i need to power around a corner im getting nothing sometimes and it cna be fairly dangerous... also if this helps anyone the car is surging forward alot wen the accelerator decides to come back, and it lurches so badly even while driving. it bogs down also when coasting with no accelerator.

thanks guys

Check the ECU error codes, it's ikely that one of your sensors isn't working right.

i had a similar issue,,

turned out the airflow meter was pluged in, but not all the way.. so it was sparatically making contact..

it would drive fine, but sink the boot into it and it would splutter and stuff around..

seriously plugged it in a little harder till it clicked.. and done! my cords came back to life!..

WELL!

took the car to my mechanic and took him 3 days to get it running. he replaced all oils and filters, didnt check the fuel pump but the car was running fine for the first couple of drives then i just took it for a drive and gave it a bit and it stalled and wont idle, i tried resetting my AFM and everything. still stuck on the side of the road, absolutely no engine response from throttle. managed to start the car and drive the 5 km back home lurching and coughing and spluttering. i dont know wat this is please i need help lol someone mustve had the same problem even in another car?????

i replaced all ignition leads, ignition coil and e101 when that was happening. does it die when you rev over 2/2.5?

Mate, is your aftermarket Fuel computer still plugged in? Have you tampered with it at all. Maybe your not getting any accel due to no or low fuel getting to the injectors cos the aftermarket ECU is not sending the right info.

Believe you me Jon it's disconnected.

The MAP sensor connection is the suspected culprit, ay Shaun?

The connection is broken, lucky I have a spare.

PS. Jon, you from Driven?

So the ECU didn't show any error codes then?

Yeah Andrew it's Jon from Driven.

If you wreck this car Shaun I'm literally going to punch you in the face
I told you Cordia's are great cars when they are running properly but fudging shit when they have a mysterious problem.

Process of elimination now my friend. Was it doing this before the Fuel ECU was disconnected? What have you change/replaced/toyed with just before this problem started happening?

well heres the list of things i have done since i have had the car

-New clutch, master cylinder and slave kit
-new wastegate actuator
-new afm
-new plugs and leads
-replaced almost all vacuum lines.
-new boost sensor
-all synthetic oils
-fuel and oil filters.

things modified or changed

-disconnected extra injector and cpu controlling it.
-disconnected boost controllor so only running 10 psi atm
-adjusted tps and isc.

checked

-timing is fine
-valve clearances are fine
-compression is fine 135,135,132,130

turbo doesnt spool on idle

also found out that i have literally no suspension so i dont know could everything be copping a hammering and knocking shit out of place??

also just went to start the car and it starts but stalls straight after and get no response from the throttle and it just pops from the exhaust and in the engine bay like when ur intercooler piping is off. and yes all of them are on thanks jon :P i cant find ANYTHING that is out of the ordinary or changed or unplugged....

im gonna cry....
