Hi,
Im installing a second fuel pump inline to help with flow for the higher than normal boost levels i wish to run (16-18psi)
:D Just wondering where is the best place for it? I would obviously prefer as close to the TB as possible but im not sure if a fuel pump in the engine bay is a good idea! Also where would i source the required power & Relay from?
Cheers in advance, James.

The Cordia pump is quite large, due to the AB injectors being quite large. just upgrade to a VL turbo pump, they are external, heaps of people run them with no dramas.

If you have your heart set on 2 pumps, mount the other one in the spare wheel well, as long as you use a parallel circuit from the original pump you'll be fine using the exising power, just un you own good earth.

you might need a twin setup in the boot with a swirl pot,

is the vl turbo pump the same as the bosche 044 ?

Yeah Travis, I would strongly assume so.
It really depends on what power you are chasing. The last thing you wanna do is be sending too much fuel down there.

A quick bit of info on fuel pumps:

Bosch 070 - Commodore VL pump, good for a fair bit of power, easy to fit with a few modifications. (130 litres/hour @ 3 bar(45psi))

Bosch 044 - Motorsport/K jetronic pump, good for a lot of power, bigger than any 4g62 would need. (200 litres/hour @ 5 bar (75psi))

Running 2 pumps in parallel gives you a lot more flow.

Running 2 pumps in series gives you a higher pressure and a bit of an increase in flow.

2 pumps with surge tank - good for motorsport ie. cornering etc, 1 pump fills the tank with low pressure and the other pump supplies high pressure fuel to the rail.

So which is better more flow or more pressure? And will i get a better flow mounting the pump under the car near the front or will in the spare wheel well be enough?
Cheers guys

You really want more flow, not pressure. Only thing is that running 2 pumps in parallel is harder to do, as they both need their own suction line. Whichever way you do it, you really need to use separate wiring and relay for the 2nd pump. I would be installing the 2nd pump somewhere near the tank and other pump.

I use the bosch 070 pump in my Starion. It's a good pump and easy to fit. I use a Walbro 255 L/H pump in my Cordia.

Trav, the VL turbo pump is faaaaar from a genuine (044). It is also known as the Bosch (070), these are rated to 400HP.

The Bosch (044) is a motorsport pump rated to 600hp. These require quite alot more modding to fit compared to the (070) as they are HUGE!
