Your car: MY car? hmmm a black hunk of metal that moves once every year
it wont advance/retard timing to negate detonation in principle never looked at one failed usually its the e101 as that stops spark

half of the people on the forum don't run a knock sensor becuase they have cut the yellow wire to disable boost cut (which also disables the knock sensor), anyway, generally nothing noticeable, are you trying to diagnose a problem or are you just curious?

not sure about a faulty one, but i changed the engine over in my old one once, and the knock sensor was loose. wouldn't start at all.
tried everything for about 2 WHOLE days. then found the knock sensor was loose. tightened it and away she went.

whats the problems your having?

I know when i disconnected mine the car seemed to drop performance slightly
( may have been my imagination) but i tried it several times with same result.
I was using wolf computer but ran the std cordia ignition utilising knock sensor
and e101

I know on starions if the knock is disconnected the timing gets retarded by 5 or 7 degrees. It seems to change by the e101 units though, some retard more than other on the usdm starions. pretty weird. I suppose if the yellow wire is disabled then the ecu cant tell the ignition to retard?
