Cannot be done as 5th gear does not exist in our boxes.

However, You can make overdrive perform manually via an incab switch.

As for mechanically it shouldn't be to big a task. Just engineer yourself a leaver/handle. Though you will be required to pop open the bonnet every time you choose to change to and from over drive.

No it is a cordia gearbox.
ok thanx guys. i was just curious cos we gathered for a dyno run and a previous cordia owner said that he had a mechanical 5th as his vacuum one was stuffing around. ANyways thanx for the clarifying.

Not really, but they are cable operated as you require.

interesting, is there any boxes that would make for a better aplication then the stock GSR box's.
i know they say lsd are the way to go but that is one big investment

the GTi box would not be as strong as a cordia box you would think however

it would be nearly worth giving it a try just to see how long one lasts, they might be fine...

as for the 5th gear, it wouldnt be hard to remove the vac operated acutuator and mount a cable shift in its place and change into overdrive like the gsl's do, could possibly even use the gsl lever and cable and just run it to a different point on the box
