I wouldn't mind getting the 4g64 block now and doing a build, or should I wait and just fit the 62t for now?

Galant, they come in the 8 valve configuration and 2.4 litre capacity..........great for putting a DOHC on!

what about a magna motor??

are they 2.6 or 2.4??
would they bolt in to a cordia??

Post subject:  Re: General questions/lazy/basic questions here

2.6 is no go as it's a wide block configuration, the newer 2.4 is a narrow block and will bolt to the cordia box...........in all the 2.4 should fit in the cordia bay, but it's still 8 valve.

No......that's why most guys stay with the 4G series..........parts are interchangeable.

would make a good convert for a cordia 2.4 in such a small car.
i know the money you must have spent going through the 2.3 convert would it not be a better platform to just start from the 2.4 even thow its not a turbo motor

Starting a turbo with an ooollldddd non-turbo motor....no thanks. Do you eat an apple when you want an orange? There is no such thing as a shortcut with cars, anything that is is just a recipe for troubles and heart break later. Putting a performance turbo motor in as a base is a good start.

I've always been told if you can't afford to do it properly don't even bother starting.

it will be forged and turbo ready motor, race port Head etc , but the other thing is that I will have to do the 4wd setup at the same time

the other thing with a 2.4 you limit your redline to about 6500rpm , where you could build a 2.0 to rev to 9000rpm

Ive seen a evo 9 ( mivec )with a 2.6 stroker , I helped with some of the research of this engine , it was making 335wkw stock highflowed turbo , it was a race car , and with nitros it was making 440wkw , got to love the 5speed gearboxes that can take this punishment

I have pulled the TC05 apart for rebuild.........for the life of me I can't remember which way the centre bearing goes, it has 3 holes on one side 6 on the other..........which way does it face?

Post subject:  Re: General questions/lazy/basic questions here

Normally the 3 holes goes to the exhaust side. If it was fitted that way, then it is probably darker on that side.

Thanks.........couldn't remember if the thrust needed more oil.......or if it was the turbine. The centre bearing is quite clean.......must have been rebuilt as the "tin" is only just starting to come off........but the thrust washer is stuffed!

Sound like the perfect place for me to ask this question. Im not sure if its just my car or all cordia due to their age. However when im driving my gearstick seems to vibrate so much so it makes a rattling sound. Is this an issue? Easy fix? Thanks in advance guys.

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that the gear stick itself has a bit of play up and down. Most of the insulators wear out but Andrew had a better fix than replacing the whole insulator as they are getting hard to find.

Ok quick question i put the bov on my mirage an the factory turbo gauge sits higher then it used 2 is that becuz of the xtra vac? Also i used the vac hose off back of intake to bov and what i assume is the boost sensor is that the rite way? Thanks guys

Post subject:  Re: General questions/lazy/basic questions here

No........it's because your loosing vac due to the BOV being open at idle.......if the Standard AFM is plugged in it will run rich as the AFM can't meter the extra air.
