while was at it replaced the top hats, with ones that weren't cracked,
Image
got from an gsl awhile ago wasn't sure if they'd be the same but had the same mb part number
and replaced the top and bottom spring rubbers with slightly better ones.
Image

had to compress the springs a lot, the lovell's were quite a bit shorter.
Image
Image

she sits bout 30-35mm higher than what there asking, but prob get a lil lower n few days maybe
looks higher than a land bruiser on steriods at the front at the moment, will have to change that later...
passengerside
Image
driverside
Image

like they say on MCM if you can fit a shoe between the tyre and guard then your car needs lowering ahaha
Image

also had 800mL of gearbox oil left, must not have lost as much as i thought yesterday, took bout 400mL
gotta win sometimes lol.

hey all, having trouble getting the solenoids etc i need for emissons

most N/A galants ive seen at wreckers are like this
so can only get one solenoid
Image
the one i was looking at the wreckers was the same as federal pic

now these diagrams are from america, just wondering if
anyone who owns a vr4 can confirm which one of these t/c DOHC 4g63 emissons diagrams
are correct
Image

if the california one is right im gonna need alot
does anyone have a
wastegate solenoid, fuel pressure solenoid, EGR solenoid (dunno if its needed)
i also need a thermal vaccum valve (that stupid plastic thing on the thermosat housing
which always break when you touch, hence mine is broken, or can you by them new?
called local repco doesn't sound like they can help

Thanks

The sensor on the thermostat housing is for the radiator fans........not too sure which one you mean........I have plenty of solenoids in my spare parts bin.........maybe you should come over and have a look :)

the other week picked up some solenoids from Andrew ,Thanks Again by the way
Image

and last weekend, went to wreckers to look for a non broken tvv, only few galants and they were broken
and lancers look like they had the same ones but a bitch to take off, on bottom of thermostat housing :/
so ended up looking at some hyundai sonata's (the korean version off the 4g63 lol) they were easy to get to
and look similar hopefully will work lol.
cleaned it up a bit
Image

Today took the old broken Thermal vaccum valve of the thermostat housing
not much coolant came out, i was expecting more, but thats good in a way
Image
Image
Image
Hooked the EGR side up to tvv
Image

next prob only got one nipple on my throttle body :(
Image
according to diagram one nipple of the purge control valve and purge solenoid go into
one throttle body nipple and the the other side goes into another
and the tvv and egr and go into another one then out another think i need 4?
Im running an aus spec plenum with the cyclone throttle body, looks like may have
to put a cyclone one back on, what a S**t :@ although there are 2 pipes at rear of plenum on this auspec one
toward the fire wall.

its gonna be a pain to do with the engine in the car, if even possible :(
also looks like the aus spec EGR has only one nipple as
the cyclone one in diagram has two there's another prob, so close but so far and still gotta rewire the solenoids also

also the other week when measure the front height of car
saw that one side on the rear seems to be 2mm lower than there limit, the other sides right on,
close but they'll prob still pick on it even though the ground prob isn't exactly level i was measuring it on.
i think i should change the rear springs to originals also, so if anyones got any they dont need?

here's the old plenum
Image
don't think thats the prob though
far right handside goes to fuel pressure reg etc, middle went to bost gauge/and bov
same on the other plenum

think the prob is in the throttle body???
only one fitting?
Image
according to emissions diagram i need 4, has this throttle body (pictured) been modified? looks standard to me
although were ud expect other fittings to be it has ball bearings blocking them off

guess what im saying is this how its spose to be the throttle body that is, do
i just simply t piece of this one fitting or do they go to diff places inside?
i serious have no idea, just goes right over my head, and so close to getting on the road

or alternatively can i just get a normal galant gsr throttle body, That has more fittings?
but then of course the little elbow at front of intake won't fit on them im guessing and i run into more problems.
so either way i look at it its a damn pain.

If anyone has any ideas would be rad.

Thanks

I got my throttle body off a magna and that has 3 fittings. You can use hyundai ones too i think. Like you said that metal elbow won't fit...i used a 45deg silicone joiner. The other problem i had though was that the joiner hits against the clutch master reservoir. The motion of the engine when driving knocks the cap off. I hold it down with a cable tie...not ideal but does the trick.

Loosing the elbow later looks restrictive anyway.

Do you mean something like this Bitza?

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Clutch-Master-Cylinder-Hyundai-Sonata-2-0L-2-95-12-98-/180928205546?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2a202952ea

Is there a specific model that fits or are they all the same anyway? Thanks for this, will be heading for the wreckers now.

because for some reason my throttle body is diff.

Image
Image

but the next problem i see is the connector on my loom for the tps is different to the one on there now
gonna compare tommorrow , if i get the old one off. and also is the thing down the bottom a stepper motor?
thats also diff, i think, mine have fly leads then the connector
not connector straight on them.

hoping i can pull old tps and put it in this one hmm

today removed my old throttlebody,
boy that was fun lol
Image

had to remove the bov section of piping
Image
removed the elbow
Image

removed connectors, had to remove the coolant hoses
coolant ev where, still didnt come off, dam those long threads on the plenum
had to remove one heater hose, loosen the fuel filter off so could move it out the way
also had to remove the hose going to the fuel rail. and had to remove the lid for the clutch master, was just enough room lol.

finally got the s.o.b out, took most of the day.
Image
side by side comparison
Image
Image
tps is diff and diff connector, so gotta suss that out somehow :(
and idle speed control motor connector is diff colour but may plug straight in hopefully
also the water pipes are in diff position so may cause few more probs
see what happens and also width of the aus spec is bit shorter 2 bout 5mm

anyone know what my original throttle body is off? out of interest
whats the best thing to clean them out with one is dripping with oil. is petrol best?

The throttle body in your left hand is a Jap spec one........degreaser will clean the body up nicely.......as for the wiring you can swap it all over into a new plug.........did it on mine when I used a magna throttle body for a while before changing to EL Ford. :)

today cleaned up the egr
full of so much oil
Image
Image
LHS is the N/A egr RHS turbo EGR
also cleaned up the throttlebody
Image
took the old egr off
Image
Image

swapped it over
Image
problems:
this is as far as the throttle body goes, tps hits the Jap spec fuel rail, guess have to change that too
Image
Image
would an N/A fuel rail fit? guess theyd be diff injectors though.

also the throttle body elbow doesn't fit on either hits the throttle closed switch
so need an aus spec elbow if anyones got one

also i guess the bracket won't fit either that goes to the crank angle sensor
and elbow. :/ dammit
