My cordia is losing water, Recently replaced welsh plug but now water is pooling around muffler. Is this a cracked head or something . Any common place they would crack?

You mean the exhaust...muffler is at the back of the car. I would check the turbos coolant lines.

If your using coolant it usually leaves white residue once it has dried and this can indicate where the leak is coming from. Otherwise clean up any water that has leaked, run the car and keep an eye out. Could be the inlet manifold. A member on here has had a lot of trouble with them leaking coolant...they tend to crack underneath. Doubt the head is cracked. Check the welsh plug you replaced.

Does the engine "stutter" and struggle to gain idle when cold?

If so the head has gone.......usually cylinder 3 on the back of the exhaust valve. Easy way to check is remove all the spark plugs and wind the engine over....observe any coolant being pushed by compression.

Was the head cracked or was it just a head gasket that went?

I wish it was only the head gasket but the Head ended up being cracked in 2 places along a previous weld between 1&2 cylinder and 3 &4 cylinder.
