Hi All

Just did a dry compression test following this viewtopic.php?t=1749
The only difference is that I couldn't warm the engine up as it is not starting.

I got 90 psi across all cylinders except one was 100 :?
So going by that I guess the motor is stuffed.
Would a warmed up engine make any real difference?
I guess now to find a new motor.

Cheers Mick

That comp test is suspect......10% difference in cylinders is fine........just do a "wet" test (inject some oil in the spark plug hole)......if the comp readings are higher the rings are suspect......a rebuilt 62 should have a cylinder pressure of 120psi.

Waaaa^

A 4g62 or 4g63 should have 150psi minimum, even 2nd hand. 120psi..... If your saying that a brand new engine has 120psi, i just wonder what you describe a 2nd hand engine as being normal, 80psi?. Your figure is most absurd i ever seen. I feel sorrow for anyone taking anything you say serious.

Yes,your engine is cactus.

Hi All

Finally got around to doing a wet test and came up with 130 psi on 2 cylinders and 135 psi on the others.
So a big difference between tests?
It also ran for a few seconds which surprised me. Blew lots of smoke though due to the oil.
Still think it maybe a distributor issue so may have to reset again.

Cheers Mick
