Hi all,
Not too sure if anybody has looked into a "factory" brake upgrade, to date I have used this on Bitza, I have removed the 3000GT calipers with this "downgrade".

Firstly you will need the magna AWD or EVO 3 rotor which comes in at 294-296mm depending on listings.........but these are 5 stud............just re-drill to suit 4 stud.

Next..........get some Outlander 2005 caliper brackets (MR307282) which have the 130mm mounting to fit TM-TP magna knuckles, these will bolt straight on.

If you already have VR4 or EVO3 calipers your in luck.......bolt them straight on, if you were like me with the EVO 3 ones they run a banjo joint..........no stress just use brake lines from a Hyundai excel.

Once fitted should look like this:

Better standard braking for our cars...........feedback welcome.

Cheers, Andrew.

Very cool Andrew, but I must ask.... why the downgrade after all that hard work?

I didn't like the wheel offset as the edge of the tyre was on the lip of the guard, I had offset the GTO calipers over 12mm and I still needed 12mm wheel spacers to give me 1-2mm wheel clearence from the caliper............so back to the twin pots.

Is the mechanical advantage gained from 276 to 296mm rotors worth the effort in your opinion?

How much difference is there in performance between the two calipers?

Moving to 296mm rotors has seen better braking efficiency due to larger circumference......the GTO's were very "touchy" and if forced could easily lock the front brake above 100km/hr............the VR4/EVO calipers feel the same, without the "fear" of "stabbing" the brake pedal.

Ok, cool as. Is it possible to go larger with 17's?

Got a picture with the rims on?

Here you go:

Still reckon that 320mm rotors will fit behind the 17's. :)

Overkill and not feasible for the everyday cordia owner.

More rotational mass, more weight, bigger tires = More power drain, less fast. Not required for a cordia turbo.

Ahh bullshit...........who the fudge do you think you are?

My cordia is not just a cordia.....It has 408 HP and requires bigger brakes........can you image me trying to stop the car with the original AB braking system.........for safety's sake think about what your writing, my car is heavily modified, and if you don't like it shove a rocket up your ass Roger!!!!!!!!!!!! fudge off!!!!!!

Last time i looked, Pedro is written on my birth certificate, so you can call me whoever you like, you seem to get me mixed up with someone else on several occasions.

Lets look at a scenario: In what conditions are you using your cordia that necessitates the need for super large brake/rotor setup? Are you track/circuit racing your cordia. Its just i dont see you pushing 400HP at a roundabout or local skinny suburban streets. Its not like your doing 250-300kms.

Secondly, correct me if i'm wrong, i find it very difficult to believe that its normal to have super massive front brakes/rotors, and standard rear drums. there should be a balance, to a degree. Or have you fitted a standard rear rotor conversion . See i dont know your car, just saying.

You fool....they are far from massive, many cars have larger from standard.

Thanks for the pics Andrew.... and yes, I do think we can go larger with 17's (and probably should).
