Have you removed the distributor?

If not, just put the line base half way between where the lock nut is.

Grab a timing light and ensure timing is 10 +- 1 or 2 degrees with the vacuum line plugged. (Removed from the advance unit)

Here's a pic to help you:

Merry Christmas.

Ok, make sure the engine is top dead centre........you can tell by looking at the camshaft and the crankshaft, make sure all timing marks align.

With the dizzy you will see a case line, rotate the base (gear) until you see a convex indent (not the role pin), align this to the line......insert the dissy........grab the dissy cap and make sure it points to number one.......approx twenty too the hour on a clock.

If its out by one cog, remove slightly and re-align.

Can't find my workshop manual at the moment as it's busy here with family..............just working from memory.

All the timing marks need to align........your timing is out by one tooth on the timing belt (it should be TDC 0, but yours is 10 degrees retarded)........you can insert the dissy and make up the advance........but you will bottom it out.

Looks to me like your dissy is 180 degrees out,

This is how the cam should look and the crank at top dead centre.
