Hey all,
Anyone have a parts breakdown list of the internal parts for the KM163? I might need to order 3rd gear and some other hard parts outside the rebuild kit (syncs, bearings and seals) once I open up the trans that has an issue. I picked up a 1984 KM163 that was pulled from a Tredia in 1991 with 70k miles on the clock for 150 bucks Friday and will swap it out this weekend. Internals look good and turns freely for sitting inside a warehouse for 27 yrs. Planning on running it 100 miles then do an oil change on the box just to flush it out and inspect the oil. What oil was left over in the case was clean and did not smell bad at all.

Found it myself. Hope this helps others. FYI this is for the Chariot, but uses the same transmission.

Great find there mate. Just ran a few part numbers through Amayama to see pricing. Not cheap and some if not most parts perhaps not available at all.

I think you have the right idea in seeing how a second hand box will go.

Second hand boxes are the best way to go, the 1984 Tredia box I bought for 150.00 works great in the Cordia. I have another one lined up for 200.00.
I learned how to pop the trans cover off and inspect the gears on the bad trans that I have and found the problem was with the 3/4 shift fork. It is die cast aluminum and was worn so bad that the tab that sits in the shifting sleeve was not square but worn to a point. The reverse idler gear was also FUBAR on the teeth points. To on top of a rebuild kit, I would need a 3/4 shift fork/sleeve, 3rd gear and the reverse idler gear.
If anyone want pics of the box open let me know.
