I think you can put a DOHC head of a 4g62 block if you change the pistons to ones with four valve recesses instead of two the SOHC pistions use.

fat_boi, the engines you get the multipoint manifold for the 8valve head are non-turbo as the turbo ones have four evenly spaced runners instead of the two sets of two in the SOHC galant, Hyundai Sonata, etc.
ECU's go for $500-1500 +tuning depending on what model/features. Check out the parts section for second hand ones.

of course... i was just thinking in terms of physically fitting onto the block thats all. The same would go if i was to use a 12v head, need pistons with the correct recesses for that configuration...

That would certainly add a lot more cost to adding mpfi to a working engine using a dohc head, but i guess it wouldn't be too bad if someone was maybe rebuilding a 4g62, but then again you would just got the 4g63.. hmm

you can get the cordia ecu remmaped, whether to run multipoint injection or not is another question.

head over to http://www.powerchipgroup.com/index.asp become a member and ask them if they can remmap the cordia ecu to run mpi and how much it would cost.

The standard cordia computer cannot run multipoint injection.

You will need an aftermarket computer.

no need to be rude roger... :P

dude, i doubt you'd get an ecu for under 500; unless you get a fairly old used one. keep saving ;)

i agree with debba here, you won't get a computer for $500. you'll be struggling to get a computer for under $800 then there's fitting and tuning which will set you back another couple hundred i imagine.

how much power can an internally stock 4g62 put out? there is no definate answer as every engine is different, but i would say 150kw at the wheels would be the limit, but ofcourse many engines fail before this.

if i were you i wouldn't worry about mpi unless your going to be rebuilding the 4g62. i would be putting my money into a sohc 8valve 4g63 or DASH engine conversion. probably cheaper and will give you better results

The stock system is good for most people. Do the usual mods, intake, exhaust, intercooler, boost increase, first and then see if you want to keep going or if your happy with that level of power.

^^ what he said. if your still not happy after that then you have a big descision with lots of choices.......................

in my opinion, and from my perspective, mpi isn't worth the hassle. i would rather spend a couple hundred dollars purchasing one of the engines i mentioned earlier and do the boost, exhaust, cooler etc on that motor or play with different turbo setups on the 4g62.

but that is just my opinion with what i want out of my car, what resources i have availible to me and my budget. this is the same for you-it all boils down to your budget and what you want out of the car.

Roger, he wasn't saying you said you could get an ECU for $500. The OP was asking if it is possible to get one for $500.

You might need to practice your reading and comprehension skills to avoid misunderstandings like these.

Why Roger? What is wrong with a Hyundai MPI? I'd like you to give a valid argument as to why you think a Hyundai MPI is no good.

So why did you say not to use one? You don't even know what is bad about it. You have been told this before, if you cant provide proof or do not have experience don't post your opinion as some naieve person may actually take your uncorroberated advice.
