Can you make one Simon?

I have noticed that guys who weld the VR4 mount "over a little bit" causes the engine to raise and be pushed back causing trans-axle mis-alignment........I have always cut the original cordia mount off (smaller) and welded it to the VR4 mount.......this way the engine sits perfectly.........I have a modified mount but the engine sits 20mm too high.

Yeah mine sits about 20-30mm too high. If i have no luck finding a good one i'll look into doing it myself. Is the vr4 mount the only one you can use? There must be some hyundais using 4g63 that are similar.

The sonata runs the DOHC 63, but is the same as VR4, unfortunately due to the cordia mount we have to cut it off and realign the mount...........what you could do is like the EVO, grab an original cordia mount but cut off the section that bolts to the timing cover/exhaust........that way the engine will sit in the factory position.

Looks like a good idea. You reckon it would affect engine movement at all?

Fifth sin has cut the original cordia mount on his EVO engine........have some pics here somewhere.......as long as the engine is supported it shouldn't be a problem, most of the stress is in the front and rear mounts.

With my current build I will be doing the same as it clears up so much clutter in the engine bay.

Pretty sure i've got an old cordia mount in the garage. Just to clarify, i chop off the end that bolts to the bracket above the power steering pump and i should be good? I'm thinking with the old rubber i might get a bit of tilt towards the front of the car putting extra strain on the mount near the bottom of the radiator. Might need a nolathane insert to give it some strength.

5thsin runs an evo engine, they never had the mount extend over to the ps support bracket.

More like this guys:

This should also work on the VR4 engine, just use a cutting disc and remove the top half of the power steering bracket.......the starion guys do this all the time. :)

That also looks like they've had to re-drill the 2 bolts holes next to the intake cam wheel. Any idea what that hose connection looking thing next to the power steering hose is? Directly adjacent to the mount bolts looking like it connects to the engine mount.

That's the remote oil filter hose fitting. Looks like it sits under the mount.

I used a Vr4 mount and cut the actual body mount off, and rewelded it bit further down to sit in the right spot.
Looked factory, engine sat perfect although I never ran the cam cover so not sure if it would've cleared the bonnet or not..
Engine height would be set by the lower mounts though? which i used cordia mounts and made custom inserts for which worked awesome.

Damn I miss Cordias :(

I just saw the photo of your car and you were able to use an unmodified bonnet which is what i'm trying to achieve. Were all your other mounts standard cordia mounts?

Sent you a PM.

I still had to cut one of the ribs under the bonnet for the vr4 to fit. All the other mounts are unmodified.
