Now i know this much..

It should bolt straight up the the manifold... and i know that i will have to make a new dump pipe and, and a new pipe from turbo to throttle body/intercooler.

But what about oil/water cooling lines do i modify them.... If so how do i do this, what is involved and what will i need. This is really not my area so a bit of detail would be appreciated.

and is there any estimate on what the power gain will be...

Cheers

I didn't think the td05 bolted to the tc06 flanges.... *shrug* not sure though. Felix has a TD05 on his g62, might be worth PM'ing him.

Is does bolt on. I have been asked about this a few times, there is a bit of missleading info around about this conversion. Perhaps I should write a FAQ.

Thats because there is many different versions of TD05.
I have a TD05 here (that i might part with) that bolts to the standard cordia manifold, and BOLTS UP to a TC05 dump pipe.

FELIX's guide to fitting a TD05 to the 4G62 engine

The following is what I did to fit a TD05-14b turbo from a VR4 to my TC06 AB GSR.

Manifold: The stock cast iron manifold can be used to mount the TD05-14b. I have heard people say that the manifold needs to be ported to suit the TD05, this was not the case with my turbo TD05H-14B (same size hole as TC06). You will need to swap the shorter turbo locating stud from your original turbo and swap it with the TD05 one (this will be quite obvious when you see it) the turbo itself will then bolt straight on.

Exhaust: The exhaust flange designs are completly different so you will need to get a new dump pipe made.

Lines: The TC06 top oil feed line will bolt on. The oil drain line from the TC06 is too short, I had mine lengthed by welding an extra bit of pipe in the centre. The stock TC06 water lines will not fit, it may be possible to heat and bend them to fit. I used high temp rubber hose and banjo fittings and have not had any dramas.

Wastegate: The TC06 wastegate actuator hooks up to the compressor housing. The TD05 wastegate actuator will need to be hooked up to a good vacuum source on the engine.

Other Stuff: The stock inlet hose from the AFM fits.

The TD05 wastegate actuator will hit the stock thermo fan. I changed mine for a thinner Davies Craig item.

turn the thermo fan upside down, the top two holes will line up with one spacer and one off the bottom wont just use some wire or cable to secure.

Felix, What does the car drive like after the swap?
And was it worth the time and money spent?

yeah felix is right.. i ahve done the same thing but i am using a 16g turbo.. the 14b will spool alot ealier thent he 16g on the engine. but it all depends if you want good top end or good low end torque.. for low end torque go the 14b :)... in get full boost at bout 4k with my 16.. the 14b will be alot ealier being a slightly smaller turbo
my 16g's exhaust inlet hole is bigger then the hole int he standard manifold so yer.. it would run better ported using the 16g i guess
i just cut half of the water retuen pipe off and used a hose fitting coming out of te turbo and the other side i used a rubber hose coming out fron the pipe fromt he thermostat and used the banjo end of the turbo inlet side havent had any dramas at all.. and for the oil lines i just bent the feed to fit and the return i cut the middle out of the return pipe and replaced it with ahigh temp hose.. again no dramas :) so t=here is a few ideas to also xconsider including felix's conversion
:)
