I'm running Black Panther ceramics in 83mm Abec 11 flywheels (old school ones, can't get the coke ones any more... BEST WHEEL EVER) on Randal RIIb trucks. I bought all the gear years ago when I first got into the sport, but the board sat unfinished til now since I didn't have much in the way of tools or workspace to finish it.

Will get her first run in a couple of days and her (and my) first proper race at Newton's Playground. We ride local hills all the time but this'll be the first real competition... They'll have downhill skating there too, the skaters get some crazy speeds down conrod... not as quick as us, but still f'ing fast...

Debba - the truck retread works like a dream, that's what everyone uses. Some guys use conveyor belt rubber though, it smokes up really good... this pic is of Bob Swartz braking on a volcanic rock road with conveyor belt rubber on his shoes:

Image

The Bandaq stuff I have hardly smokes at all, even when you do massive stand-up stops.... but it STINKS when you do big ones.

And no, I'm not going to paint it pink :P I've been pondering anodizing it (rail black, pan blue, leave the bars silver coz they're stainless... my leathers are blue/black/white/silver so it would look wicked I reckon), anodizing's pretty easy to do... the only problem though is finding a container big enough to be able to submerge it in acid tho... won't quite fit in the bath LOL. That and you have to boil the metal after you do the dye and my stove isn't quite that big :P It really is a lot of effort to do it though so it's 99% likely to never happen haha.

mad_rx2 - I've also got a gravity hypercarve longboard I borrowed, has Randal RII's on it and I just swap the wheels off the luge. Not a very good skater though, much better on the luge :P Want to get my longboarding skillz up though so I can ride around town...

haha I know what you mean, we have to travel nearly half an hour to get to a decent hill. There's only 2 hills within Canberra city that are worth hitting and they've both got way too much traffic... although we're going to do a run at like 5am one day cause they're both wicked hills...

There's one hill down south that's INSANE, it goes up into the mountains to this little retreat thing called Corin Forest, the ride-able part of the road is almost dead on 10k's long... just keeps going and going and going...

Tried a hill with blades on? not as fast, but not as stable...

this is probly why they put a roundabout 1/2 way through the hill near my place...
